Tentaculars are a hostile and edible species in the Dragon Quest series.
In the third and eighth entries in the series, Tentaculars appears as common enemies in the outer sea. In the tenth entry from Verison 5 onwards, however, Tentaculars appear in a desert region of the Demon Realm.
In Dragon Quest XI, a Tentacular was summoned by Jasper to kill the Luminary who fled on a ship. However, before the giant squid could do anything, it was scared away by Gondolia merchant ships. The same Tentacular later attacked Lonalulu's sailors, however, it was killed by the Luminary after a tough battle. After the fall of Yggdrasil, more Tentaculars show up and appear as common enemies. They are extremely dangerous and can be even deadlier than Alizarin the Spectral Sentinel if not treated probably.
Tentaculars look exactly like squids we can find in seafood markets. However, Tentaculars are enormous.
- In Dragon Quest XI, there is a quest where the villagers of Lonalulu request the Luminary to help them to obtain a roasted tentacular tentacle. This shows that these giant monsters are edible.
- Tentaculars, as well as King Squids and Squidzillas, will always appears with a left and right tentacle in Dragon Quest XI.
- Tentaculars are originally supposed to appear in Dragon Quest II, but they were scrapped.
