Tentakil is a minor antagonist in Generation One of the Transformers franchise. He is based on a figure released in 1988 and is a member of the Seacons.
Marvel Comics[]
Tentakil was introduced in the UK-exclusive story "Enemy Action", where it was revealed he and the other Seacons had been summoned from Cybertron by Shockwave, who required their assistance in constructing a fortification for the Decepticons' new undersea base. During the process, Galvatron was seen approaching the base. Suspecting an attack, Shockwave sent the Seacons to intercept him but Tentakil was quickly taken out of the scuffle and didn't fare much better after the Seacons formed Piranacon. In the annual story "Dreadwing Down", Tentakil and the other Seacons were sent to recover a fuel cell being transported by Dreadwind and Darkwing after they crashed into the sea but they were defeated by Optimus Prime and the other Autobot Powermasters.
Tentakil made his first Marvel US appearance in Issue #47 as part of the Underbase Saga. Still part of the Earth Decepticon force now led by Ratbat, he took part in searching the seabed for two Autobot cassettes that contained details of the location of the fabled Underbase. Despite the tapes briefly being recovered by the Autobot Blaster, Tentakil and the other Seacons managed to deliver them to Ratbat. Later, Tentakil was present when the group made contact with Scorponok's Decepticon faction from Nebulos. During the climax of the saga in Issue #50, Tentakil took part in an ambush of the Autobots, tackling Perceptor. After the two groups called a truce to battle Starscream, who had obtained the power of the Underbase, Tentakil was part of the detachment led by Ratbat and Blaster stationed in New York, only to be deactivated despite attacking Starscream in the water.
During "Flashback", in Marvel UK's Earthforce storyline, Megatron travelled back in time to try and prevent the deaths of Tentakil and the other Seacons so they would be around to serve him in the present, but was stopped by a time-travelling Prowl.
