“ | As you can likely gather from its other title, this "Abyssal Leviathan" is said to have been a tyrant of the ancient seas. Its enormous tentacles can be repelled, but they will regenerate after a short time. | „ |
~ Fi's analysis of Tentalus. |
Tentalus, also known as the Abyssal Leviathan, is a major antagonist in the 2011 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
It is a giant sea-monster inspired by a tentacled mollusc and a cyclops. Tentalus appears after Link traverses through the Sandship. He attacks the ship, causing it major damage. This results in a lengthy battle between Link and Tentalus.
Biography[]
Past[]
Little is known about Tentalus' history, except that it resides in the ocean near the Lanayru Desert. It is unknown if it had historic conflicts with the Sandship pirates, or if it is just a hostile creature.
It is implied by Fi that Tentalus is an ancient creature.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword[]
As Link enters deeper into the Sandship, an ancient pirate ship once captained by LD-002S Scervo, Fi notes that there is a disturbance outside. Fi reveals that the ship is being attacked, and that Link must return to the deck at once.
As Link travels back to the deck, he narrowly misses being struck by Tentalus' tentacles, and severs them using his Skyward Sword abilities. When Link arrives on the Deck, there is no sign of any creature until Tentalus emerges from the ocean.
A battle begins, where Link must use his Skyward Sword abilities to sever Tentalus' tentacles, causing it to keel over onto the deck in pain. When Tentalus does so, Link stabs Tentalus in the eye repeatedly, causing its death.
