The Termites are a group of one-time villains in Popeye the Sailor Man, only appearing in the episode "Insect to Injury". They are a swarm of termites who ate Popeye's brand new house.

Biography

In "Insect to Injury", Popeye built a new house only to have it immediately attacked by a swarm of termites. The termites started by eating his mailbox. The termites went over to Popeye's house and he tried to block them by closing the gate on them. However, the termites ate through the gate, as it was made of wood and then they went on to eat the wooden pathway to his house. Popeye redirected the path into a metal trash can, which he trapped them in and then he took it out to the road and just left them there. The termites worked together to form the shape of a car jack and lifted the lid off the trash can to escape. As Popeye rebuilt his fence, the termites came back and ate his whole fence again. Popeye used a steamroller to scare the termites back away. The termites led Popeye to a wooden bridge, which they ate, causing him to fall in the river. As the termites went back to his house, Popeye rushed over there before them and dug a trench and filled it with water, making a mote. The termites were unable to swim and Popeye went inside to read. The termites got into a tin can, using it as a boat to sail across and made it into his house, where they started eating his wooden furniture and then eventually tore down his whole house. Popeye got mad and then ate some spinach giving him the strength to rebuild his entire house out of metal. The termites saw this and tried to eat it but because it was made of metal, they were powerless. However, they did get one last little meal in when they ate Popeye's wooden pipe. This didn't matter to Popeye as all he did after this was take out another pipe made out of metal that they couldn't eat and he, at long last, got the last laugh.
