| “ | Tessa: I did not come here to rescue you. I am completing our mission. When we first faced the Kalisk, I tried to protect you. And that almost cost me everything. Thia:... What do you mean, Tessa? Tessa: I almost made the same mistake the Yautja's Brother made. The weak must culled. And Thia, you're broken. |

| ~ Tessa revealing her true nature to Thia. |
Tessa is the main antagonist of the 2025 science fiction action film Predator: Badlands, the ninth installment of the Predator franchise.
In her characterisation, she is an advanced synthetic created by the Weyland-Yutani Corp, along with Thia, who she later regards as her twin sister; the pair were originally sent to Genna on an operation to capture the Kalisk, but were separated when the Kalisk attacked. After being repaired and learning that Thia had paired with a Yautja known as Dek, Tessa sought out to complete the mission once more.
She was portrayed by Elle Fanning (in her first villain role), who also played Thia in the same film.
Appearance[]
Tessa almost looks identical to Thia, she wore a white suit but later wore a black suit; her blonde hair is lighter, seeming essentially white. Despite her repair after being damaged by the Kalisk, her right eye remained milky white.
Personality[]
Tessa is cold and calculating with no regard for any life nor even her fellow synths. She only cares about fulfilling the orders given by the Company. She is a firm believer in Darwinism, rather in an extreme version that makes her feel contempt for any life she deems as too weak to be allowed to live; she also believes that might makes right.
Biography[]
Background[]
Built by the Weyland-Yutani Corp, Tessa along with Thia and a group of synths, were sent to Genna with orders to capture the Kalisk and send it to the company but were nearly all but destroyed in the attempt with Tessa and Thia being seprated after.
Predator: Badlands[]
Having been brought back to the main base in Genna, Tessa was repaired by MOTHER, who informed Tessa about a Yautja who had arrived to claim the Kalisk as its kill and gives Tessa additional orders to capture the Yautja and bring its advanced weapons to the company.
Entering Genna's wildlife accompanied by synth soldiers, Tessa find the Yautja's crashed ship and manages to retrive the weapons before being alerted to Thia's location. Arriving, Tessa finds the Yautja Dek being overpowered by the Kalisk, giving Tessa the opportunity to use a cryogenic grenade to freeze the two in place and retrieves Thia.
After loading the Kalisk and restraining Dek, Tess learns that Dex is a runt who seeks to kill the Kalisk in order to rejoin his clan. Tess then proceeded to torture Dek on how to work his weapons despite Thia's pleads. Tess calls Thia a defective synth and orders her body to be destroyed when they leave. Tess then leaves the room placing a synth guard in charge who is quickly destoyed after Thia tricks him into activating a Yautja toy as Thia helps Dex escape befrore being locked in a storage container.
Tess and the synths then begin to load the Kalisk and Thia onto a shuttle, but are interrupted by the return of Dex along with the baby Kalisk Bud. Dek then destroys most of the synth gaurds while Thia escapes and helps Bud rescue the Kalisk, who is also Bud's mother. Taking matters into her own hands, Tess arms herself with a plasma caster and uses a mech to fight Dek before fighting off the Kalisk, who then eats her whole.
Seemingly dead, Dex and Thia return Bud to the Kalisk who then explodes after Tess uses cryo grenades and the plasma caster from inside her body, resulting in her being heavily damaged. Tess then attemps to kill Thia with the plasma caster, only to get her spine and skull torn out by Bud before Dex claims her remains as his kill trophy.
Trivia[]
- Tessa serves as a foil to Kwei, Dek's older brother. Thia looks up to her as a surrogate older sibling figure in a similar manner Dek looks up to Kwei, and Tessa sacrificed both her duty and her wellbeing to ensure Thia's survival in the much the same way Kwei did for Dek. However, their roles rapidly diverge from there, as Tessa after being rebooted comes to regard her love for her sister as a weakness, and consciously chooses to suppress it. Ironically, she ends up representing the Yautjia's society ideals the best, discarding her own sister when she proves too much of a hassle, while Kwei saves his brother at the cost of his life at the hands of Njohrr.
