Tex Macadoo is the overarching antagonist of the 2021 horror thriller film Willy's Wonderland.
He is the current owner of the cursed Willy's Wonderland family entertainment center who knows that Willy Weasel and the other seven animatronics have come alive and killed everyone he was trying to save in the past, and keeps a promise to Willy not to kill anyone in the remote Nevada town of Hayesville. To keep the 8 vile Willy's Gang animatronics quarantined, he, Sheriff Lund, and Jed Love, tricked some stranded drifters into cleaning up Willy's, offering them as sacrifices to the animatronics in order to stop their killing spree. He is also Jed Love's boss and best friend.
He was portrayed by Ric Reitz in his first villainous role.
Biography[]
Origins[]
Tex Macadoo was an entrepreneur who had dreams of fame and fortune. To achieve said dreams in 2006 he re-opened the long abandoned Willy's Wonderland, a family entertainment center in Hayesville, Nevada despite it being home to a series of grizzly murders ten years prior in 1996 at the hand of it's orginal owner, Jerry Robert Willis and his team of killers. He also hired several employees to run the place including Jed Love who acts as the mechanic for the animatronics. However both Sheriff Hobson and deputy Eloise Lund are keeping a close eye on things because of the establishment's awful history.
When Tex opens Willy's for a tour before the opening night, he shows concern when one of the animatronics, Knighty Knight, almost kills one of the costumers so he berates Jed for not having the robots' "glitches" under control. He then attends to the staff members telling them they must give their A game if the restaurant is to be a success as he gave the public one of his "Tex Macadoo Guarantees". He then goes to his office where one of his employees, Belle, tries to seduce him, but he soon freaks out at the sight of one of the animatronics, Siren Sara who broke into his office. Belle takes this as a sign of Tex rejecting her so she angrily leaves.
Tex soon finds Belle's corpse mutilated by the animatronics and Jed reveals that the orginal owner Jerry Willis is not dead but is in fact haunting Willy Weasel, and his friends are haunting the other robots and if Tex does not do what they say he will be their next victim. Fearing for his life as the grand opening begins he has no choice but to let the customers in despite the threat of the animatronics.
For a while things at the restaurant go well but secretly the animatronics are killing people behind his back so much so that both Hobson and Lund question him about several people going missing. However, he bribes Hobson with cash to turn a blind eye to everything going on much to Deputy Lund's anger. Later a man and his grandson Allister ask Tex if he could allow them to have a sleepover birthday party at the restaurant. He first he angrily denies them, but changes his mind once they offer him a large sum of cash. However during the party the animatronics finally betray Tex and attack and kill almost everyone in the restaurant. Tex along with a few others barely manage to escape alive. Due to the carnage Willy's Wonderland is permanently closed by the sheriff ruining Tex's reputation and business.
Tex later tries to have the restaurant torn down due to being sued for guests being seriously injured by the animatronics, but Willy kills the contractor and his family the night before the demolition to keep them from tearing it down so they decide to leave it as is, locking it up and letting the place rot. Unfortunately, the animatronics get out into town and kill countless people in random places, like the ice cream shop, the hardware store, and even the school. Having no choice, Tex Macadoo with the now local sheriff Eloise and Jed Love make a promise with Willy to leave both people (including children) and town be, and they will feed the animatronics.
Year over year, Tex tricked many drifters (even some which Sheriff Lund described as those with low moral character or some who are at the wrong place at the wrong time) to clean Willy's Wonderland in exchange for mechanical reparations, only for the newly-hired janitors to be killed by the animatronics. He also stole their vehicles once Jed had fixed them.
Willy's Wonderland[]
In the present, Jed Love contacts Tex about the new Janitor to give him a job at Willy's Wonderland in exchange for repairing his car's wheels (which had been punctured by a spike strip left by Sheriff Lund). Tex introduces himself as a wealthy businessman who plans to reopen the restaurant, but he first needs someone to help him clean it up.
Tex eventually gives him a Willy's Wonderland staff uniform and cleaning supplies, telling the Janitor that he will be back the next morning with his repaired car. However, this is just a hoax so the animatronics can kill the Janitor. When he leaves the building, Tex locks him inside before stopping to smoke with Jed in the parking lot. Shortly after, Tex asks to go away since he "can't stay to hear a grown man scream".
The morning after the events of the film, Tex and Jed return to Willy's Wonderland, thinking that the Janitor has died. They are surprised to find the restaurant clean and the animatronics destroyed, giving their car to the Janitor, who leaves town with Liv Hawthorne. Glad that the nightmare is over, Tex and Jed prepare to celebrate and even think about the possibility of reopening Willy's Wonderland (under the new name of Tex's Turf), but the joy is short-lived as Siren Sara, still alive, gets out. of the garbage bag and uses gasoline, with which Liv was about to burn down Willy's, to pour all over Tex's car. When Tex and Jed get inside the car, they see Sara through the car's front mirror, and Sara triggers a massive explosion, ending up killing them both and herself.
Trivia[]
- Despite being the overarching antagonist of the film, he has little screen time.
- Despite being killed by Siren Sara, Tex is indirectly responsible for his own death by throwing away the lighter Sara used on him to blow up his car along with Jed.
