I know they are just children, but they are more unpredictable than we anticipated! Now, if you want me to get rid of the brats, I need stronger poison... Yes, Yes! (laughs) That's it?! No, no, no wait! I-I assure you, next time, you won't be disappointed!

Our alliance expired. I am out.
~ Tez's last words after breaking off his alliance with Coyolxauhqui.

Tezcatlipoca, also known as Tez, is the main antagonist of the Cartoon Network supernatural series Victor and Valentino.

He is the husband of Maria Teresa, and the grandfather of Pineapple and Charlene, He is a world renowned magician who, prior to his debut on the show, had been traveling the world performing his act, While at first glance he appears to be a normal magician, it is later proven that he has real, and very powerful magical abilities. He also claims that he has "Big Plans" for Monte Macabre. He is a magical trickster who wants to become a powerful magician, and he's also the arch-nemesis of the titular characters Victor and Valentino.

He was voiced by Christian Lanz.

Physical Appearance[]

Tez is a tall, heavyset man. He has tan skin and black hair, as well as a sharp, black moustache and beard. Across his eyes he has a yellow stripe.

He wears a black jacket with blue designs depicting a jaguar across the back, a similarly colored top hat adorned with a small obsidian mirror and a design that resembles blue flames. He had a red shirt with a yellow collar and belt, and white gloves. He also carries a black cane that is topped by a jaguar head with purple gemstones for eyes, which light up when he uses his magic.

His right foot is missing, and is replaced by red and yellow, cylindrical prosthetic "peg leg" (as Victor calls it), which has what appears to be obsidian mirrors on either side. His foot also makes a metallic noise when he walks.

Personality[]

Tez is a performer, an entertainer who enjoys dazzling his audiences with spectacular feats of magic and showmanship. He is charming, smooth talking, and easily earns the adoration and awe of most everyone, including Victor, while Valentino rightly remained skeptical of him.

He is also something of a conman. He is seen using his magic to steal Don's watch while distracting him with a magic trick. Chata is also very distrustful of him, and tells the boys to "Never trust what Tez says", implying she was very aware of his deceitful nature.

He is somewhat cocky of his magical abilities and likes to show off, boasting that he is more powerful than anyone can comprehend, which, while most likely warranted as he is proven to be very powerful, was something that was able to be exploited against him as he is easily swayed into bragging about himself. As an example, he was easily distracted from attacking Valentino simply by Val telling him how cool his magic was and asking how he did some of his tricks, prompting Tez to show off his skills, unintentionally playing into the plan to distract him.

After his battle with Sal, Tez finally becomes humble, which persuades him to undone his dark magic and accept with faith his master before breaking his alliance.

Biography[]

Past[]

Tez was born from dual god, Ometeotl, dividing itself into four gods, Tezcatlipoca (Tez), Xipe-Totec (Xipe), Quetzalcoatl (Sal), and Huitzilopochtli (Huitzi). The four were progenitors of the Heavens, the Earth, and Mictlan (Underworld). Tez and Sal were feuding brothers, and very competitive, like Tez turning Sal's Tlachtli team into monkeys, or fighting over who would be the sun. At some point, Tez dated Chalchiuhtlicue (Chata) though broke up under mysterious circumstances. Eventually, Tez formed an alliance with Coyolxauhqui, setting everything in the show into motion. Under her leadership, he placed a curse onto various gods. He blocked out Sal and Chata's memories of their god identities, stored Huehueteotl (Teo)'s powers away into a crown, and turned Huitzi into a hummingbird. He had also been the victim of Huehuecoyotl's prank, leading him to trap him inside an alebrije that found its way into Chata's care.

Sometime before the events of the series, he would then marry Maria Teresa, as well as become a world-famous magician.
