Bi, better known as Phạm Thị Châu Thanh or Thanh Sói, is the main antagonist of the 2019 Vietnamese action film Furie and the titular main protagonist of its 2022 prequel film Furies.
Initially was a member of Jacqueline's assassin trio, Bi was tasked to take down "Mad Dog" Hải as her first goal. After Jacqueline's betrayal and defeat, she was sentenced to prison. After her release, she later adapted the name Phạm Thị Châu Thanh, or Thanh Sói, then became the leader of her organization, which was well-known for her illegal child trafficking crimes. She is also Hai Phượng's arch-nemesis.
She was portrayed by Trần Thanh Hoa in Furie and Đồng Ánh Quỳnh in Furies.
Personality[]
Thanh is proven to be sadistic and completely fine with her child trafficking crimes. She never shows her compassion to anybody else, even her henchmen. An experienced martial artist, she maintains control over the operation through fear, and has those who oppose her brutally executed.
Although Thanh is considered as ruthless in her crimes, she isn't free from her background, as revealed that Bi (her real identity) is tragic due to the lost of her mother and having to live through a life of crime. While it currently never portrayed with any sympathy, Thanh was affected from it and is the main reason she becoming what of her right now. She also cares for her mother and her fellow assassins due to her showing grievance to them.
Biography[]
Furies[]
Bi initially lived in her boat alongside her mom. When she was assaulted by a man, her mother came to save him, which unfortunately costed her life. She stabbed that man to death, caused her to lay back and cried due to never killed a person in life plus losing her loved one. Unfortunately her small home was also burnt during the fire from the fight.
Bi then travel to Saigon, then lived her life of crimes. After three men came to beat her, she was cornered, only for Jacqueline to arrive and saved her, then later gave her a home alongside Thanh and Hồng.
During her first day of training, she was new and very weakened, but until she saved Thanh from the metal bar above, she later earned her role.
Her first task was to track down "Scarface" Tèo alongside her allies, which successfully did so as Bi killed the child trafficker in the process. However, the killing also traumatized her a bit due to her past. As the assassins left the scene, Hồng lit up the area to destroy it.
The next night, she and the assassins sneaked into Hải's party to take him down. Her clumsiness spilled his drink, but Hải grabbed her to prolong her stay. When Hải took Bi and Hồng into his room, they began to attack him, only for Hải to flee while "Half-Blood" Sơn and his thugs arrived to stop them. As the number of men were reduced, a thug killed Hồng which caused her to retreat with Thanh. They went on a motorcycle chase, with our assassins managed to escape them.
During the final night, they arrived at Hải's hideout where he sent his men to come after them. After finishing the final thugs, she arrived to confront Hải, who was cornered by Jacqueline, who revealed her goals and shoot Long, then Hải took the toll and as Jacqueline asked Bi to kill Thanh, she refuses, forcing the leader to kill Thanh instead. They engaged in the final duel and Bi successfully weaken Lin, until the former pulled the trigger, only was out of bullets. After killing Lin, Bi fell unconscious and later was arrested. She later adapted her name Thanh Sói from one of her colleagues, then began her crime spree.
Furie[]
Before the events of the film, Thanh was the leader of her organization of child trafficking for a period. She shook her hand with other various black markets from other countries. One day, her thugs abduct Hai Phượng's daughter, Mai, so Phượng tracks them down.
After fighting the thugs, Phượng finds their base of operations and is horrified to see its child trafficking activities. As Phượng encounters Thanh after knocking down her thugs, Thanh beats her up until Phượng becomes unconscious. Thanh orders her men to toss Phượng into a river and readies her gang to pack the children onto the train. However, Phượng is then rescued by Detective Lương and escapes with the help of a sympathetic nurse. Later, Lương convinces Phượng to team up with him to take down Thanh's operation.
Phượng and Lương find the train and fight off Thanh's henchmen. Because of this, Thanh has the train tracks changed and the train splitted. When Phượng enters Thanh's cabin, Thanh once again decides to battle Phượng. As she manages to knock Phượng down, Phượng stands up and chooses not to give up and fights her. Phượng manages to steal Thanh's knife, continuously beats her up before stabbing her neck with the knife, ending her reign for good.
