Thant is a playable supporting antagonist in Heroes of Might and Magic III and Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era.
Biography[]
Little is known about That's past, but he is believed to have been an Erathian soldier who fought in the Timber Wars on the side of King David Gryphonheart IV against the elves of Avlee. But when they were marching through Phynaxia all night, he fell victim to a vampire and turned into the undead. He then did not return to Erathia, but joined the necromancer kingdom of Deyja. It wasn't until much later that he appeared and attacked the northern part of the Contested Lands with another vampire, Galthran. The two vampires killed hundreds of peasants and resurrected them as skeletons and zombies who joined the hordes of Deyja. A smaller horde then continues the attack towards a village, but the inhabitants are protected by a famous sorceress who also fought in the Second War of Enrothian Succession, she was Gem. The horde was defeated and the elves launched a counterattack against the necromancers. Galthran and Thant were defeated and lost two castles, but managed to retreat. They were next seen when Gelu had to obtain the Elixir of Life from a vampire lord named Vokial, but at his side fought and undead death knight Isra and Thant. Gelu, on the other hand, was a very talented fighter and defeated all three of them. The remaining forces of the undead retreated and he successfully completed his mission. Thant then emerged in the swamp of Ferris, where he, a necromancer, Vidomina, and a zombie death knight, Straker, battled a famous barbarian warrior, Crag Hack. Before the battles, the barbarian also sent a messenger to his enemies so that he would not necessarily have to fight. His goal was to get Sandro an artifact, the Rib Cage of Power, in exchange for a large reward. It's likely that Thant received the courier since his castle was the nearest and the vampire nearly killed him, cursed him, then sent the barbarian warrior back to the warlord, who returned bloody and turned into a zombie after delivering the message. Crag Hack became enraged and set out with his hordes. The necromancers were eventually defeated, Thant, Vidomina and Straker retreated.
Thant did not take part in Sandro's campaign for world domination, only appearing again later. After Sandro imprisoned by Finneas Vilmar, the king of Deyja, was killed and usurped by the undead Nicolas Gryphonheart, Thant took part in the invasion against Erathia. Together, he, the necromancer Septienna, and Vokial launched an attack on the northern part of Erathia, where they pushed deep, capturing five towns and inflicting a heavy defeat on the armies of Erathia. After Deyja was finally defeated, he joined the necromancer guild of Jadame and became second in command after Sandro. No one saw him after the Reckoning, so it's likely that he perished.
