That Stench Most Foul is a minor antagonist in Salt and Sanctuary.
Biography[]
Long ago, a Woodswrath alchemist conducted an ambitious experiment that created the creature known as that Stench Most Foul. Upon its "birth", the creature immediately killed and devoured its creator. Not only did it grow, but the creature learned of its love for consuming human flesh. From its body, that Stench Most Foul released Stenchpods, separable mouths, to search for more humans to consume. From the numerous Stenchpods released and the acrid gas they spread, the area became known as the Mire of Stench, known for the toxic fumes in the area. The residents of the area became intrigued with the fume, revering that Stench Most Foul as their god.
The player encounters the grotesque creature within the Mire of Stench, at the top left of the area following the numerous encounters with Stenchpods and the enraged citizens protecting their "god". That Stench Most Foul is weak to holy and fire attacks while resistant to slashing weapons. Its abilities quickly raise the poison bar should the player not dodge its attacks fast enough. Its main attack throughout the fight is to summon Stenchpods from its mound of mouths, causing a small poisonous cloud to form. Its other attacks include a melee swipe with its arms, extending spikes around its body, and a poison cloud that it spits out around the arena. Once the beast is defeated, the Saltborn obtains one of its teeth.

- It is best to take out all remaining Stenchpods before laying the final blow on that Stench Most Foul, as they will remain after the boss is defeated.
- That Stench Most Foul's tooth can be transmitted into the Mephitic Arquebus or the Adder Fang.
- Defeating that Stench Most Foul unlocks "The Mire" achievement.
