~ The Ancients before their battle. |
The Ancients are major antagonists of 2024 Roblox RPG game Block Tales, serving as the main antagonists of the game's fourth chapter, Excavation Exploration.
They are ancient deities worshipped by some people many years ago and also foreshadowed the sacrifice of Captain Trotter for the Firebrand through a prophecy.
Appearance[]
The Ancients are beings that are made up of many circular shapes, and represent many different Egyptian gods each in their individual portrait around the main circle, which contains the Eye of Ra. On the left from top to bottom consists of Khonsu, Bastet, and Thoth while the right features Horus, Ammit, and Osiris. They are also seen with arms that have shackles, even smaller arms all around, scarab beetle horns on the top, and wings.

Biography[]
In the Temple of the Red Sun, the player and Calypso come across various hieroglyphs about the civilization responsible for making the temple had religious beliefs related to sacrifice for gods they worship. One of them states that sacrifice is required to wield the Firebrand.
Eventually, Captain Trotter is accidentally sacrificed after his scuffle with Calypso that the Ancients are then summoned, thus fulfilling the prophecy that was once told. They tell how satisfied they are with Trotter's demise to summon them and plan to behold their powers in the world before battling the player and Calypso. Though after their defeat, the Ancients goes on a speech of how humanity has evolved and thanks the player and Calypso for sacrificing Captain Trotter and how his soul is now sealed in the Firebrand itself. With that, the Ancients explode and the Firebrand is dropped, allowing the player to obtain the sword.
After obtaining the Firebrand, the player can face The Ancients again in the Guilty Nirvana in The Guru. As soon as the player walks far enough, a cutscene is played with the Ancients appearing and its Eye of Ra suddenly awakening.
Powers and Abilities[]

- Fireball: The Ancients project a ball made of fire at their target. If the target doesn't dodge this attack, they get burned and other party members get damaged as well. The damage depends if the target managed to block it or failing blocking it. Dealing half of the damage if blocked including the party or dealing full damage if it failed to block or dodge.
- Ultra Beam: The Ancients fires a burst of lasers that hits all targets nineteen times in rapid succession. If the player doesn't dodge a laser, they get confused. It is recommended to use the Ghost Potion or Ghostwalker to avoid the attack, but if you don't want either of those two, you could instead increase your defense level to deflect the beam.
