The Angler and its variants are major antagonists in the 2024 horror Roblox game Pressure. It is the most common creature in the game, appearing roughly every seven rooms including the variants. While being the most common creature in the game, it is notorious for being one of the most frustrating creatures in the game.
Appearance[]
Angler is described as looking like a typical deep-sea anglerfish. It appears a giant humanoid face shrouded in black smoke. Its skin is a silvery grey, and it has three glowing white pupils. It has two black eye sockets, and the one with an extra pupil droops down to where its mouth and eye connect. Its mouth is full of large sharp teeth which it uses in its jumpscare to bite, despite in its description saying its method of killing is killing the neurons in the brain, resulting in Angler victims appearing as limp bodies with no physical damage. The Angler always faces the player, even if there are multiple players staring at it at once.
Mechanic[]
When Angler is about to strike, the lights in the room that the players are currently in will flicker. The players will then hear a loud, low-pitched wail from far away, either from the way they came and the way they were going. As Angler rushes closer, the scream gets higher pitched, and the players must find a hiding spot. The intended way to survive the Angler and its many variants is to hop into a locker and wait for it to pass. You can also hide away from Angler's view by hiding behind something and being far away enough. When Angler passes through an area, it leaves the area it went through in darkness, and disappears in the next room.
Variants[]
The Angler has multiple variants, which are rare, but are most likely going to be seen in any given run of the game. These variants all behave similarly to the Angler with minor differences to differentiate them. The variants cannot attack from the front like the Angler can.
Blitz[]
Appearance[]
Blitz looks the most similar to the Angler. Blitz is a dark grey viperfish face surrounded by black smoke. Blitz has disturbingly long teeth and a corrupted left eye socket with three white eyes. Blitz has a taller of a face than Angler.
Mechanic[]
Blitz behaves exactly the same as Angler, except that Blitz is almost three times faster and will flicker the lights twice before passing through the room.
Pinkie[]
Appearance[]
Pinkie looks very similar to Angler, except she is pink in color. She has two pupils per eye socket and has thinner teeth. Pinkie, since the Friendly Fire update, has a pink anglerfish lure on her head. The same goes for Froger, as they are both female.
Mechanic[]
Pinkie behaves exactly like Angler, but she screams way louder than Angler and does not cause the lights to flicker. Players should immediately hide after hearing a distinct loud, piercing scream in the distance.
Froger[]
Appearance[]
Froger looks similar to a frog fish, hence the name. Froger is orangey yellow in color and has very pronounced eyebrows, making her look angry. She also has a frowning mouth. Froger also appears to be scaley. Like, Pinkie, Froger has a glowing yellow lure showing that she is female.
Mechanic[]
Froger once spawned, flicker the light before rushing down the hallways with a loud exhaling. It does what’s called “sweeping” by Urbanshade’s document. At it’s first sweep will rebound 2 consecutive times before temporarily going away. Players are advised to get out of their lockers until they hear the proximity audio from her again to avoid cleithophobia from kicking in and preventing the player to re-enter the locker. Around a few seconds later, Froger will rebound into the room again at its second sweep.
Chainsmoker[]
Appearance[]
Chainsmoker is the most different looking variant from Angler. It appears as a green blobfish with a big nose and black sockets. It has pink lips and constantly breathes out green smoke, making it harder to navigate.
Mechanic[]
When Chainsmoker spawns and flickers the light, the player could easily identify his arrival by going into lockers, which will quickly induce cleithophobia presented through quickening heart beating. Chainsmoker will then slowly rushes down the hallways accompanied by unsettling ambience and chains rattling. Players should only hide inside the locker when the ground shakes, as when entered early they will only be kicked out by acute cleithophobia. After Chainsmoker passes through, he will leave down a trail of green smoke near the ground. The acute cleithophobia caused by Chainsmoker will disappear once he despawns.

Trivia[]
- Froger is a direct reference to the monster from Iron Lung, sharing facial structure and color.
- Blitz and Chainsmoker used to not have a Jumpscare and instead reused the Angler’s. Now, Blitz makes the screen monochrome and goes frame by frame your last moment alive, and Chainsmoker traps you in a smoky green hellscape.
- The jumpscares of some of the Anglers are not accurate, considering the fact that it says that they do not eat typically, instead, going for the brain's neuron activity.
- Pinkie's survival badge, "Ready for Anything," is accurate to the method for survival against her. She does not flicker the lights, which to a new player, is the only way to tell is Angler is coming. It correctly guesses most players hear her screech and book it to a locker to survive.
- The Angler, Blitz and Chainsmoker are male, Pinkie and Froger are female.
