He was initially believed to be the brother of the Slave Girl, however, he was later revealed to be her cheated husband after killing Alighiero Alighieri and Beatrice Portinari. Wanting revenge, the Avenger would kill Dante during the siege and murdered his family, which became pivotal in Dante's journey.
He was voiced by Daniel Curshen.
Overview[]
During the Siege of Acre while fighting at the Crusaders, Dante Alighieri and Francesco Portinari were tasked by King Richard to keep the prisoners, which included the "siblings" as claimed by the girl. The Slave Girl offered to "comfort" Dante. Dante took her to have sex with her, thus breaking the vow to Francesco's sister Beatrice. This angered the man. After Dante committed massacre on the prisoners, the Avenger took the life of Dante by stabbing him in the back.
The Avenger entered into Dante's villa where he then brutally murdered Dante's father Alighiero Alighieri and Beatrice. He then revealed he was the husband of the Slave Girl, not her brother as shown in the vision by Lucifer when Dante learned this.
In the downloadable prequel, Dante briefly apprehended him, but Dante let him go after the latter claimed "she wasn't my sister! She was my wife!"
Personality[]
As his name implies, the Avenger was a man took revenge on Dante for having sex with the Slave Girl. He was shown to have resentment towards Dante. The Avenger later killed Dante for a good reason during jailbreak. Despite being portrayed as a villain as he killed Beatrice who was innocent, the Avenger wanted justice.
Animated film version[]
When Dante took the Slave Girl for "comfort", the Slave Girl's supposed brother despised the pair. The Avenger went too far when he killed the innocents in Florence, which included Beatrice and Dante's servants.
