Villain Overview

The Black Eagle!
~ Pahin spotting the Black Eagle

The Black Eagle is a minor antagonist of the French computer-generated series Tales of Tatonka. He is mainly the enemy of Alfa, Wambli's father.

Appearence[]

The Black Eagle, as its name suggests, is a Golden Eagle with a black plumage, while its talons and beak are yellow.

Personality[]

The Black Eagle is a silent antagonist, but like most antagonists in the series, he will attack Wanji, his siblings, and his friends when he got the chance of an easy meal. However, he is often easily repelled, such as when Wanji bites his claw or when he is confronted by parents of the protagonists like Alfa or Wicasa and Winyan.

History[]

Season 1[]

On the trail[]

The Black eagle first appears as a cameo flying over the wolves den at the start of the episode. He dosen’t play any role as the main antagonists of the episode are Luta and Ska.

One of Us[]

Like for his previous appearance, the Black Eagle appears as a cameo at the start of the episode flying over Tatonka.

Tall stories[]

The black eagle’s first real appearance and debuts as an antagonist occurs when Wanji, Poum, Cinksi, and Pahin venture into the mountains in search of a mysterious cave Pahin mentioned. It attacks the protagonists before they find refuge in a cave. But as soon as they try to leave, the black eagle blocks their way, but is scared off when the spirit bear saves the quartet by scaring the bird of prey away.

A difficult decision[]

The black eagle briefly appears as Wanji, Cinksi and Wahi are looking for Moose in the canyon. His presence dissuades Wahi to go back after an argument. Moose also briefly sees the eagle as he is injured.

Cinksi's debt[]

The black eagle appears briefly, attacking the wolves cubs. He tries to attack Yamni before being chased off by her parents Wicasa and Winyan.

Wahi the Coah[]

The Black Eagle is seen flying over Wicasa's territory in search of food. His presence scares a group of crows who were fighting over berries with Wahi and Pahin. He attempts to catch Wahi but misses and takes some berries. Later, the Black Eagle returns, targeting the squirrel and the porcupine again. Pahin protects Wahi and the eagle's attention then turns to the four wolf cubs who came to rescue their friends. Wanji bites his talon and the black eagle flies away.

Head in the Clouds[]

The black eagle later returns to hunt near the mountain again. Wambli's father, Alfa, sent his daughter to alert her friends of the flying predator. But the black raptor spots Wambli and her friends and attacks before being chased off by Wanji and Cinksi. When Wambli manages to fly again, the black eagle chases her back up the mountain. Wanji intervenes by distracting the eagle, giving enough time for Alfa to arrive and chase the intruder from his territory.

Season 2[]

A Thirst for Salt[]

In this episode three raptors with the same appearance as the black eagle appear circling the protagonists in the desert and taking a snake, but it is impossible to know if the black eagle itself was one of them. But it’s unlikely given the fact that the black eagle lived in the mountains.

Trivia[]

  • The Black Eagle is the only recurring antagonist in the series who doesn't speak and is not called by a name.
  • It's Unlikely that "The Black Eagle" is his real name as it is also the name of his appearance.
  • Along with Akicita, he is the least recurring antagonist in the show.
  • Along with the Snakes, he is the only antagonist who dosen’t face Tatonka himself.
  • Although the Black Eagle is shown as a competitor for Wambli and Alfa, in real life their species (Golden eagles and bald eagles) are generally peaceful neighbors, although territorial disputes can occur, especially over scarce food or nesting sites.
