~ Xirat'p to his brother, P'tarix

The Blue Scribes are two unique Blue Horrors, servants of the Chaos God Tzeentch. Individually, they are named P'tarix and Xirat'p. They are antagonists in the Warhammer franchise.[1]

Overview[]

P'tarix and Xirat'p are two Blue Horrors of unique manifestation, specially created by the Sorceror God Tzeentch. In the ancient times of the world, when mutation was rife and chaos at it's height, it was often said that Tzeentch was the dominant deity of the four powers. However, his brothers would come together and jointly depose him, pushing him from the Endless Mountains and shattering the God of Magic into countless fragments. These fragments would become every spell in existence. The Shattering would weaken Tzeentch permanently and in order to reclaim these broken pieces and his lost strength, the Blue Scribes were sent out into infinity to gather the shards. However, ever wary of treachery by his spawn, Tzeeneth prematurely hampered both daemons to ensure their loyalty even as he bestowed them with lucidity and intelligence. P'tarix can write spells, but not read them. Xirat'p can read these written spells, but cannot understand them. Satisfied with his creation, Tzeentch sent them out to learn every spell in existence and forbade them to return until they had.[2]

Gifted with a Disc of Tzeentch, the brothers ride through mortal and immortal planes of existence, squabbling as they do their master's bidding. With a quill taken from a Lord of Change, P'tarix binds these spells in encanted ink upon parchment. Xirat'p reads the spells to check for mistakes, often releasing torrents of magic as he does. Though not combatants, the Scribes' task often leads them to battlefields, where rival wizards from either side hurl destructive spells at their enemies. If attacked, the scribes respond with a barrage of random magic, which can do everything from damning the enemy with their own personal thundercloud to transmuting them into precious metals.[3]

In truth, the Scribes cannot complete their task, for magic multiplies endlessly and it is well that this is so. Should they find and bind every spell, their existence would be forfeit as Tzeentch swallows them and existence itself would suffer as the Change-God reaches his former eminence.[4]
