Hurrah! Hurrah! Three cheers for the cause! We truth uphold, and also laws! For the many, the few, the big, the small - we would give our lives for the cause!
~ The Gideshu March

The Central Authority is a major antagonist in the Roblox game Deepwoken.

They are a military organization originating from the Central Luminant. Composed mainly of Adrets, their goal is to eventually control all five Luminants, believing themselves the rightful caretakers of what's left of humanity.

History[]

Past[]

Founded some time after The Tides caused the mountainous homes of the Adrets to become more traversable, they would make the Central Luminant their capital and begin expanding, conquering the savannahs of Markor, leading to an alliance with the local Divers, explorers of The Depths. Interested in what the hellscape had to offer, The Authority provided The Divers with funding. This did not lead to their relationship improving, with The Divers often giving them 'the cold shoulder.' At some point in time, a man named Drallis Ehr stood against something referred to as the Godstorm. Doing so earned him the position of The Authority's Grand Sovereign.

Eventually coming across the firearms producers, The Summer Company, and mining organization, The Ignition Union, The Authority also recruited them to their cause. However, The Divers, Summer Company and Ignition Union all had conflicting interests and fought frequently, which The Authority turned a blind eye to. Seeking to develop new technology, they enlisted the protégé of Gunsmith Rosen, the Company's founder, named Gunsmith Hiercha, to use the Company's secrets to produce a new weapon. Using a combination of technology and resources from his former teacher and his new employers, Hiercha invented the Rifle Spear, a weapon that combined spears and firearms, allowing to shoot bullets. The weapon was used chiefly by soldiers assigned to guard prisons, such as Fort Merit

As they continued their expansion, they met with a group hailing from the Western Luminant, calling themselves The Hundred Legions. Initially forming an alliance, the Authority eventually violated their treaty, resulting in war.

War With The East[]

Moving into the Etrean Luminant, they soon found themselves at odds with the ruling power, The Kingdom of Etrea, eventually erupting into a war. They moved numerous soldiers to the Luminant, as well as the Knives of Eylis Pirates, lead by Warden Jericho. In the early stages of the war, they were able to take over the Etrean prison of Fort Merit, using it as a prison for POWs and various Navaen Nomads the Knives of Eylis kidnapped. Unfortunately, the Lightkeeper that manned the local lighthouse refused to keep the gateway open and the Luminant was cut off from the rest of the world, trapping Jericho and his men there to the present day. They soon learned the true nature of Etrea's interim ruler, as a member of the Ministry. Fearing that he may start a second Great Drowning, they began to escalate the war, hoping to destroy him by any means necessary, even if it meant destroying Etrea and all of its people in the process.

Military[]

The Authority's army is largely composed of Adrets. Though they do employ other races, they are usually locked to low-rank and expendable positions and often giving poor training. The role of a soldier usually depends on their attunement. Most Flamecharmers are used as soldiers and prison guards, positions that frequently see other races in their ranks. Adret Flamecharmers that became strong enough are made Commanders, usually residing in strongholds unless deployed against major targets, such as capital cities. Thundercall is used by higher ranked soldiers, and only by Adrets, as well as torturers. A famous regiment of Thundercallers is the Shock Corps, which was infamous for it's deployment in "dismantling guerrilla elements" in the Central Luminant. In reality, this was an attempt to silence civilian protesters. Among those involved a man named Kelsius. Frostdraw is only used by Authority Captains, who are only seen taking on high-ranked members of the Hundred Legions. Lower ranked soldiers, such as soldiers and guards, wear a standard Authority Peacekeeper Armor, while higher ranked soldiers wear a red coat over it.
