The Cleaners are minor antagonists in the first season of the 2018 CW series Black Lightning.
History[]
The Cleaners are twins and two unnamed henchmen of the Shadow Board and the personal bodyguards of Lady Eve. They accompany her like shadows unless they are sent on missions. It seems that they specialize in assassinations that need to look like accidents - at least they stage their murders so that no connection to their employer can be made. They also guard Lady Eve while she is working at Black Bird funeral parlor.
After two lesser henchmen have failed a task for Lady Eve, she sends the Cleaners to deal with them. During this contract, the Cleaners stage a failed burglary and make it seem that the two targets were shot by the shopkeeper during the attempt to rob him.
A few days later, the Cleaners guard Lady Eve at the parlor when suddenly two attackers with energy weapons show up. The Cleaners draw their guns immediately and bring Eve to cover. In the resulting firefight, Eve uses one of her Cleaners as a human shield and ruthlessly drives him forward towards one of the attackers. The henchman survives long enough for Eve to shove him into the attacker and disarm him. She then uses the attacker's energy weapon to kill the second attacker, but not before he has killed the second cleaner.
Despite the Cleaners' best efforts, Lady Eve is murdered by a third assailant immediately afterwards.
