| ~ The Creature reflecting on the unavoidable cycle of violence and death. |
The Creature, also known as The Monster, It, or Frankenstein's Monster, is the main protagonist of Guillermo del Toro's 2025 film adaptation of the 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by the late Mary Shelley.
It’s Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s masterwork that had been sorely mistreated and nearly murdered by its creator in a blazing inferno after the madman began to despise it for its ability to only connect with individuals besides him. The Creature would survive the attempt on its life, however, and proceeded to form a friendship with a blind, old man who taught it to act and speak properly. It’d then vow revenge on its creator after realizing the latter’s grave misdeeds. This endeavor initially seemed to strip it of its humanity, though it becomes apparent that it’s more human than Frankenstein ever will be.
It was portrayed by Jacob Elordi, who also played Nate Jacobs in Euphoria and Heathcliff in Esmerald Fennell's upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
