"O Mary dear, that you were here. With your brown eyes bright and clear. And your sweet voice, like a bird. Singing love to its lone mate. In the ivory bower disconsolate; voice the sweetest ever heard! And your brow more… Than the… sky of this azure Italy. Mary dear, come to me soon, i am not well whilst thou art far."
~ The Creature reads Percy Shelley's poem, O Mary Dear to Lisa Swallows after her ressurection.

The Creature is the deuteragonist of the 2024 horror comedy film Lisa Frankenstein. Director Diablo Cody stated that the film is set in the same fictional universe as Jennifer's Body.[1]

He was the creation of Lisa Swallows and, although not truly evil, eventually became hostile and violent to protect her.

He was portrayed by Cole Sprouse, who also portrayed the young FP Jones in Riverdale.

Biography[]

In life, this man was a Victorian pianist who fell in love with a woman in his town, but she eventually left him for another man. In 1837, he was killed after being struck by a lightning.

In 1989, Lisa Swallows went to Bachelor's Grove Cemetery after a party and speaks to his grave, stating her desire to be with him. After Lisa leaves, a bolt of green lightning strikes the grave and the man is brought back to life as a zombie, and the duo embarked on a murderous journey to find love, happiness, and a few missing body parts along the way. The first victim he kills is Lisa's mean stepmother: Janet who was getting ready to put her in a psychiatric institution. He kills her by hitting her in the head once with a sewing machine and then cut off one of her ears to replace his missing ear immediately after she falls on Lisa's carpet. Lisa tells him that she can't, before grabbing his chest and continuing with "not before we bury the body". After doing so, she sews the disemboweled appendage onto him on her bed before she takes him out to the garage and puts him in the tanning bed and revives Janet's dead ear attached to him now, giving him back his hearing from his rotted off ear. To prove that it works Lisa yells into the newly "transplanted" ear, it works.

The next victim is Doug Marands, Lisa's lab partner who almost date rape Lisa during a party and Lisa lured him to the cemetery where the Creature cut off one of his hands and then later killed Doug by throwing an axe at him. Later, they took Doug's hand and then sew it on the creature. Overtime, the Creature and Lisa began spending time together and with his new hand he starts playing piano again.

After Lisa's death, the man resurrected her. Sometime later, he is sitting on a bench and reading to her.

Personality[]

Like Frankenstein's Monster, this Creature was a rather dim although friendly and quiet docile individual, but he quickly became violent, destructive and cruel. Though he has proven to be a very good lover towards the end of the film especially. He has shown to be competitive. As with killing Doug, after he throws the axe into his spine and falls off screen. The zombie proceeds to do a frat bro "yes" motion with his fist balding up and coming up to him before being pulled down as he jerks him reanimated body forwards a bit.

Trivia[]

  • The Creature was inspired by Frankenstein's Monster.
  • The opening has the name Frankenstein get traced out of the grave.
  • This was one of Cole Spouse's solo roles without his brother: Dylan.
