The Dark Shadow Lord is the main antagonist of Happy Tree Friends spin-off series Ka-Pow!, specifically in the Buddhist Monkey franchise.
In the show, he appears as an overarching antagonist of both episodes Enter the Garden and Books of Fury and as a major antagonist in the episode Three Courses of Death.
The Dark Shadow Lord is a cruel and sadistic dragon-like creature. He is also the mysterious leader of an army, composed mainly of Generic Tree Ninjas, but also as other stronger henchmen such as Char Sui. He resides in a castle in an unknown location in China.
Appearance[]
Not much is known on the Dark Shadow Lord, as he is a very enigmatic and minor character, only appearing clearly in one episode. He appears as a tall shadow figure (possibly a dragon) with menacing red eyes, wearing a what seems to be armor. He has long arms, and hands with claws at the end of them, covered by gloves.
Personality[]
As his anonymous name suggests, the Dark Shadow Lord's personnality remains a mystery, especially because of dark silouhette. But we learn that he is just intolerant of failure such as the fact that he killed one of the Generic Tree Ninja since he defeated by Buddhist Monkey and charge to send Char Sui to make the birch in their places.
But since Buddist Monkey violently defeated Char Sui to death, the Dark Shadow Lord became suspicious of Buddhist Monkey and decided to focus on his plans to defeat Buddhist Monkey and conquer all of China.

Three Courses of Death[]
The Dark Shadow Lord first appears after Buddhist Monkey defeated all the Generic Tree Ninjas, sitting in his throne. Seeing that the only left alive ninja failed his mission, he decides that he's no more of use, so he kills him using a chi-technique that manages to make his eyes explode and erasing him from existence. So, seeing that the ninjas hardly have success, he decides to send one of his stronger henchmen, Char Sui. As Char Sui is defeated, the Dark Shadow Lord is appears again, watching Buddhist Monkey through a pot of water in his room. This his only appearance in the whole series.

- The Dark Shadow Lord is most likely unknown by the Buddhist Monkey.
- Despite being a dragon, he is the only reptile character in the series.
- He is one of the most mysterious characters in the whole series.
- Although Ka-Pow was canceled for unknown reasons (probably because of the budgetary problems of the franchise) that occurred in 2023. It is very likely to see a potential episode where Buddhist Monkey fights the Dark Shadow Lord for the first time.
