The Devourer is the main antagonist of Epic Battle Fantasy 5, and the bigger bad of the series as a whole. It is a grotesque creature that created the game's universe and desires for it to be mindless and obedient to the programming it made. It desires to kill the heroes as they are conscious beings with free will.
The Devourer created the Cosmic Monoliths to allow itself to see into the dimension it created and act as a "defense system" that it could use to get rid of any conscious beings. It also watches the real-life player and wishes for them to stop playing. The Devourer has also rebooted the universe multiple times, deleting the memories of Matt, Natalie, Lance and Anna before the events of the game.
It created Akron and Godcat, effectively making it the most powerful being in the Epic Battle Fantasy universe.
Biography
The Great Impact
The Devourer, upon the player themselves starting the game, summoned the Cosmic Monoliths to the world, and caused the Great Impact, an event that shook up the world. The Monoliths emanate an energy that turns monsters hostile, resulting in the world becoming unsafe and resulted in the deaths of many in Redpine Town. The Rapture had also formed on the Earth, which contained a gateway to The Beyond.
The Final Battle
In The Beyond, the Cosmic Gigalith, which serves as the core to the Monoliths appeared. After the Gigalith was destroyed, The Devourer was able to physically enter the same area as the heroes. During the battle, The Devourer reveals its motivations and the things it has done in the past. It then decides that it has to restart the universe again, and then starts this by deleting the world and everything on it. Eventually, The Devourer is defeated, restoring the Earth, but it states that it has found a way into real life, and that it will eventually find and deal with you.
