The Devourer is one of the secondary antagonists in the 2023 video game Minecraft Legends alongside the Beast and the Unbreakable. They are a massive Piglin with who is the leader of the Horde of the Spore. During the events of the game, they set up multiple piglin outposts throughout the map in order to aid in the Nether invasion.
After destroying all three of Horde of the Spore's outposts, the Devourer builds one final base and guards it as a boss battle after emerging from a Nether portal.
Like all other Piglins, they communicate with squeals, roars, and growls. They are voiced by Eric Ruben.
Appearance[]
Among almost all other piglins, they are towering giant, bested by only the Unbreakable and the Great Hog in size. Like all other piglins in the Horde of the Spore, they share a common biology; pale skin covered with acne, as well as warped roots growing on their skin and clothing. Three disgustingly huge, putrid-red cysts are growing on their back.
Personality[]
Like all other Piglins, the Devourer is an apathetic, self-centered, sadistic beast who only cares about himself. While the Great Hog is punishing the Beast by choking him, the Devourer was shocked but quickly started laughing with the Unbreakable. Despite his Piglins endlessly supplying them food, he occasionally kills or even eats them just for the sake of it.
The Devourer is also shown to be lazy and lethargic. They spend almost all their time in their soup bath, all while Piglin Runts deliver him an endless supply of food. When time to rally up their troops, the Devourer throws up on all of them before rushing into a Nether portal, showing carelessness.
Even though he may be selfish and careless, the Devourer still wants their army to succeed. When a Piglin warns them about the Hero for the second time, instead of doing nothing, they comply sends some Sporebacks to aid battle.
History[]
The Devourer makes their first, brief appearance when the Great Hog summons his horde generals to a map table, sending their first troops into the Overworld. Later, the hero destroys multiple piglin outposts, causing the Great Hog furiously chokes the Beast as the Devourer and Unbreakable watch. The Great Hog chucked the Beast against the wall in rage, afterwards signaling the Seer to approach. The Devourer and Unbreakable repositioned themselves, allowing the elder to join the meeting. The Seer calls upon four piglins to bring a beacon to the table, which he then proceeds to corrupt using the Orb of Dominance, creating the Night Beacon.
Following the hero's demolition of the Night Beacon, a piglin flies out of a Nether Portal as soon as it was destroyed. The piglin scrambles towards the Devourer and the other generals to tell them that the hero destroyed the Beacon. The Great Hog angrily approached the piglin and began violently assaulting it with the other generals. Afterwards, the Devourer and the other generals return to their respective horde bases.
Once the Hero destroys a Horde of the Spore outpost, the Devourer makes their first proper appearance. A piglin attempts to warn the Devourer, who was relaxing in their soup bath and chowing down on spores, animals, and overworld food given to him by continuous line of piglins. The Devourer was too busy to care about the piglin's warnings.
When the hero destroys another Horde of the Spore outpost, an injured piglin interrupts the Devourer's feast to tell them about the hero, much to their displeasure. Fortunately, the Devourer complys and calls upon three Sporebacks. After the Sporebacks show off their mushroom grenades to their leader, they get sent into the through Nether Portal to aid in the battle.
Long after, the Devourer finally finishes their big feast. The Devourer furiously smacks a piglin into lava as they rose from their soup bath while beating their chest. The Devourer leapt out of their bath and began rallying their piglin troops as they cheered for them. Finished gathering up their troops, the Devourer gives them one final message before taking off to the Nether Portal: throwing up on them.
In the Overworld, the Devourer emerged out of a Nether Portal with slight difficulty due to their size. The hero travels to the final Horde of the Spore outpost and engaged in a long, ferocious battle with the Devourer and their piglins. During the last moments of the battle, the Devourer weakly slumps over and throws up all over the floor. They finally toppled over, defeated.

- The Devourer is known as the "RotterBoss" internally within the game files.
- Judging by their design and homebase, the Devourer and Horde of the Spore seem to be themed around the Warped Forests of vanilla Minecraft.
