You thought you could escape, didn't you? Like all the others before you. But no one ever leaves this factory. You're just another doll to add to my collection. Soon, you'll be like them. Silent. Obedient. Forever trapped in this perfect form.
~ The Director before trying to turn the player into a doll.

The Director is the main antagonist of the 2024 indie horror game Dollmare.

He is the director of the Sweet Cheeks doll factory who, at first, appears as a affable individual who instructs the player to do their job, but as time goes on he is revealed to be a cruel and sadistic individual who enjoy luring people into the factory with job proposals before turning them into dolls that he can control as much as he wants.

Personality[]

At first, the Director seems to be a affable individual, who explains to the player how to do their job and judges their work depending on how they did through the day, often getting frustrated when they make a mistake but always brushing it off and trying to not appear too suspicious when speaking to them.

However, in reality he is a cruel and sadistic person who lures desperate people in the factory by promising them a well paied job that consist of checking the dolls produced by the factory, only to them turn the employees he just hired into dolls after some days of work, trapping them into fates worst than death where they are conscious but cannot speak or act on their own, forever trapped in mangled plastic bodies that the Director uses for his own purpouses.

He is also a control freak, obsessed with the idea of people obeying him like dolls, wanting to turn his employees into dolls because he wants them to be silent and obedient forever. His obsession with control leads him to use a voodoo doll to control K. after he is turned into a doll, wanting to make sure that he will obey him even though he is still able to speak and act on his own, using him to lure new employees into his trap.

Biography[]

Not much is known about the Director's past, except that at some point in the past he founded the Sweet Cheeks factory, a company that produces dolls in large quantities. The factory, however, is nothing more than a façade that the Director uses to lure desperate and unsuspecting in order to turn them into obiedient dolls. During the years, he repeated this process several times, with hundreds to thousands of people turned into dolls being visible in his dungeon, all of them fully conscious and aware of their situation but unable to act on their own.

However, when repeating this process of transformation on a new employee simply named K., this one is able to retain some degree of autonomy, but the Director acts quickly and bound him to a voodoo doll in order to have full control over him. He decides to spare him, wanting to use him to lure other employees to the trap he prepared, where he would then release a gas of his own making that is able to turn people into dolls. With time, the Sweet Cheeks factory would earn a shady reputation because of the disappearence, but with no evidence of anything happening the Director was free to act and continue his plan of turning as many people as he could into dolls.

The Director can be first heard when the player enters for the first time in the Sweet Cheeks factory, instructing them on how to make their jobs, which is checking that the dolls aren't damaged in any way. During the day, the Director checks the player's work, getting frustrated when they make a mistake and judging their performance at the end of the shift. The player can, however, find scattered across the factory several notes left behind by K. during the period in which he worked in the factory, and they starts to get worried and suspicious of the place.

After four days of working, the player is contacted by the dollified K. who, while the Director is absent, ask the player to talk to them and explains to them that he was once a human like them before being turned into a doll by the head of Sweet Cheeks. K. tells them that the Director already have his grasp on them and will force them to come back through voodoo and plans to turn them into a doll too, as such the only way to save themselves is to solve the problem and stop the Director. At that point, the man comes back and asks the player to go back to their workplace, at which point K. tells them that he will contact them in the next few days.

After a few days, the factory almost seems to break down and not work anymore, with K. jumping out of the disposal tube and dragging the player down with him. If the player didn't find the voodoo doll with which the Director is controlling K., he will apologize to the player for tricking them and telling them he is controlling him with the doll. The player will then follow a series of corridors in which there are thousands of humans turned into dolls, ending up in a cell inside of which the Director spray his gas, turning the player into a doll while mockingly thanking them for the service. The player will then awake in the workplace as a doll, conscious but unable to move or speak, listening as the Director welcomes a new employee with which he plans to do the same.

However, if the player successfully throws away the voodoo doll, K. will thank the player and tell them that they need to act quickly. Before the player can be trapped in the cell, K. will open a secret path in which they will redirect the gas through a valve, before ending up in the cell. There, the Director tells them that they are nothing more than dolls that he will add to his collection and that he will now be an obidient doll like the rest, before activating the gas. To his shock, however, the gas is redirected in his room, with a desperate Director that says that it wasn't how it was supposed to go before turning into a doll, trapping himself in the same fate worse than death the in which he trapped thousands before.

Trivia[]

  • In the locker room, there is a picture commemorating him as the "Employee of the Month", with him simply being called "The Director" even in it.
  • His appearence, much like his name, is completely unknown, only appearing too far to see him well enough.
