The Dog Killer is the secondary antagonist of the first arc of Absolute Martian Manhunter.
He is an unnamed man from Middleton with repressed violent thoughts and who takes them out on random dogs he can find. His violent tendencies are further enhanced by a mind manipulating entity that arrives in Middleton starts to cause chaos in the city, utimately choosing this man as its main host.
Biography[]
The Dog Killer is first briefly seen as John Johnes struggles with his newfound psychic powers, reading the minds of all in close vincinity. This man's thoughts are also displayed to him, with him thinking about the last dog her murdered, about how good he felt when sliding the knife down its neck, while promising himself it was the "last time". Close to him, the owner of the dog sadly thinks about how she hasn't found her dog yet. John, however, gives no more mind to either of them as to all others he is hearing.
The man appears again several days later, crudely appraoching a dog with a knife in hand, before it cuts to the dog's corpse hours later. The owner and John Johnes inspect it, with John promising they'll find him. Later, during the blackout, the man invades John's house with a knife, fidning Bridget and Tyler, John's wife and son. As he enters to kill them, Bridget defends herself and her son with a shotgun, blowing his head off. The White Martian, however, regenerates his head, and he keeps going on to attack.
Before he can reach her, however, John Johnes and the Green Martian come to the house through non eucledian movementation, after having escaped from a crazy psycho, appearing through the Dog Killer's head. However, he reveals he has "backup too", as he starts to fight John Johnes while both Martians battle each other. After the White Martian is defeated, it changes host from the Dog Killer to Tyler Johnes, leaving the man's status unknown, but likely dead without the Martian to keep him alive with a blown up head.
