The Elder is a minor antagonist in the 1995 horror video game I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, based on the 1967 short story of same name by the late Harlan Ellison.
Biography[]
Serving as the Elder to the village AM created for Benny's torture, the Elder observes the Lottery to make sure everything goes smoothly. They speak a language Benny can't seem to translate, but Benny always gets the gist of what they are saying. The Elder draws the stones from the Lottery Bag to decide who will be sacrificed. Even as Benny tries to hide the bag, he simply chooses the young child as the sacrifice after finding him.
The Elder most likely died in the explosion caused by AM's defeat, if the player's got the good ending, or continuously lived on to fuel AM's boredom in the Bad Ending.
