The Family are the main antagonists of the Horror Manga series Freak Island and it's prequel Offal Island.They are a family of cannibalistic mutant cultists that make sacrifices for Saint Mary.
History
The Family were born on the large island, and was originally made from Yoshikazu and his mother, Otoki. Together, they worshiped Zanta Maria, a mysterious entity. A Vatican agent namedMariko Glaccias was sent to discover Zanta Maria and that is were she met Yoshikazu, who summoned Zanta Maria where she said to him that the two would meet. After which, they fell in love and had two children, Mari and her brother Kaoru. After this, she left her family to inform the Vatican about her discovery and the family discovered the stones which they used to empower themselves and then attack some civilians. This angered the mayor, Hanakuro, who called for back up, attacking and torturing the family until Zanta Maria appears and saves them.
Taking control of the island, Yoshikazu made deals with the government and the yakuza for the power of the magic and later making sacrifices for Zanta Maria. During the events of Offal Island, Alice and her crew visited the island and were attacked by the trio of Mari, Yoshikazu, and Kaoru due to the latter thinking that Alice is his mother. Also during this time, Hankuro, his rebels, and Alice were mutated alongside the family. Mariko finally returns to her family at some point and later uses her magic to revive Otoki and later had three more children with Yoshikazu, the twins Anna and Kanna as well as their youngest child Satoru.
During the events of Freak Island the family members go after a group of university students. Kaoru and Mari were now young adults and They had also capture a young woman named Ami Murata. During this time, Takahisa would later become a mutant himself and Mari would fell in love with him, wanting to marry him while Kaoru would later fall in love with Ami, due to her believing that she is connected to Zanta Maria. The family would host a wedding for the two and Takahisa used the family conflit to their advantage until it backfired with the Catholic Church appearing led by Archbishop Maximillon, their arrival caused by the Child of Perception being born. The family members went after the recently born Child of Perception, killing it and using its remains to make soup to grant their wishes. The death of the child caused corpses to rise as zombies, with the family and Takahisa teaming up to survive it.

The family appears in the spin-off series Freak Island in Love. which is set in a different universe where some of the members have the opposite gender. The Family will appear in an anime short.
Members
- Yoshikazu- The father and head of the family he is the one who discovered Zanta Maria and the stones.He is the second most recurring member.
- Mariko Glaccias- The mother and estraged wife of Yoshikazu. She was a Vatican agent and later becomes a nun on the island.
- Mari- The eldest child. She wears a mask to hide her disfigured face at the hands of her grandmother and is sadistic, being obsessed with boys and helps out her father and younger brother Kaoru to make sacrifices. She is the third most recurring member of the family.
- Kaoru- The second eldest child and the muscle of the family. He is the most recurring member alongside his father and oldest sister. He wears a pig mask to hide his face.His weapons include a knife,a hammer,and a chainsaw.
- Kanna- One of the twins. notable for having a hideous face. She and her twin Kanna wear owl masks and serve their mother. The twins were the third and fourth children.
- Anna- One of the twins and notable for having a normal face. She and Kanna were the third and fourth children, wearing owl masks and serving their mother.
- Satoru- The fifth and youngest child. He has the ability to read minds.
- Otoki- Yoshikazu's mother and the grandmother to Mari, Kaoru, Anna, Kanna, and Satoru.
