The First Lapis Lazuline, also known as Old Blue and the fake name Ms. Tanaka, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Pythie Frederica) of the Magical Girl Raising Project franchise.
She's the leader of Team Lazuline and later the head of Magical Girl Department's R&D Division. Unlike Pythie who wants to reform the Magical Kingdom's system, The First Lapis Lazuline wants to destroy it, in an act of vengeance against them for the death of her granddaughter. She is the mentor of fellow magical girls, including the Second and Third (Bluebell Candy) Lapis Lazulines, the Pure Elements and later Ranyi, Diko Narakunoin, Love Lulu and Princess Lightning.

She is described as an old, classy woman.
Magical Girl Form[]
The First Lapis Lazuline, in her magical girl form, has platinum white hair that is wavy and has blue ends and streaks. She wears a black bow around a portion of her hair in pointed buns at the top of her head. She has fringed bangs and a Nemophilia pinned in the center of her forehead. She wears light violet makeup and has pink eyes with a gradation of violet blue.
Gold-colored jewels adorn her V-shaped black leotard, which has long sleeves that bulge out at the shoulders. A blue gem in the shape of a heart with a gold border sits in the center of her breast. She was wearing a blue two-toned cloak with Nemophilias on the back, a fluffy white V-shaped miniskirt, and dark blue heels that wrapped up to her thighs, which were also adorned with additional Nemophilias.
She also wears blue earrings and blue nail polish.
Personality[]
As described by Diko Narakunoin and 0 Lulu, The First Lapis Lazuline is characterized as having a slightly nasty personality. Her lack of humanity is further demonstrated by the fact that she was entirely okay with Pythie Frederica brainwashing Ripple. Nevertheless, the First Lapis Lazuline does demonstrate some concern for her trainees. At the end of QUEENS, the First Lapis Lazuline broke off her relationship with Frederica, due to her obsession over looks.
She also has an unyielding hatred towards Cranberry and Magical Kingdom, as they're responsible for the death of her granddaughter (particularly the former), thus driving her into vengeful tendencies to destroy the Magical Kingdom for her gain.
Abilities[]
The First Lapis Lazuline's talent enables her to perceive everything, including people and things, for what they really are. Because of her magical skill, she is able to perceive the potential in magical girls and predict their destiny. For example, she was able to predict one of her trainees' deaths before they had occurred. She has amazing intuition as a result of her powers.
In White, Lapis Lazuline III adds that The First will be impervious to opponent strikes if she uses her magic to its fullest during battle.
Trivia[]
- Her name is based on Lapis lazuli, owing to her bluish motif.
- Despite The First Lapis Lazuline's hatred towards Magical Kingdom, it is revealed in Black that she works for the R&D Division of the Magical Girl Department, which is ironically the R&D arm of the Magical Kingdom.
