The Forest Protectors are the major antagonists of the Hello Neighbor franchise. They were an urban legend in Raven Brooks before they were found out in Grave Mistakes and exposed in Puzzle Master. They also appears in the animated series
Hello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brooks Season 2.
Description[]
Rumored[]
The Forest Protectors are supposedly humanoid bird creatures, with beaks, long hands, and feathers. It was told that they build huge nests and drink the blood of young people. However, these are all just rumors going around between the people of Raven Brooks, especially amongst kids.
Reality[]
Forest Protectors are actually a group of humans wearing bird costumes, including Officer Dale Tapps, Gordon Cleave, and Mayor Marvin Tavish.
The costumes of the Forest Protectors consist of sharp, curved beaks with eyes on the mask, and they wear black cloaks covered in feathers. They also have sharp claws on their hands. The Forest Protectors would do rituals in an observatory whenever a storm starts. They use one of the devices that would bring bad luck to Raven Brooks.
They are referred to as the "Ravens" and the town is referred to as the "Crows".
Known Members:[]
- Gordon Cleave
- Dale Tapps
- Marvin Tavish
- Harold
- Principal Abanante: Abanante is the one character confirmed to be a cultist. Principal Abanante was revealed to be one of the cultists when Ivan recognized her scar beneath her robes in Season 2 Episode 5. She also wrote the same signature on the warning letter as the Golden Apple Amusement Park poster.
- The Mayor: The Mayor is likely one of the Crowfaces. Despite neither of them appearing in the episode, his voice was credited in Season 2 Episode 6 along with Abanante's. His voice was also very similar to one of the cultists who threatened the Esposito family and retreieved Peterson's book from Maritza. He was also the one who sent Kornwell to retrieve the plans to the Golden Apple Amusement Park.
- Leslie Kornwell: It is very likely Officer Kornwell was one too given his associations with the Mayor and confirmed ally to the cultists, Otto Kinander. For instance, when Mr. Peterson was digging a grave implied to be associated with the Golden Apple Coins, it was Otto Kinander who called for Officer Kornwell. He also was the one who took Mr. Peterson's sack of the golden apple coins and likely gave them to Otto. He then stole plans from evidence to the Golden Apple Amusement Park on orders of the Mayor who was his childhood friend.
- Gerda: Gerda was the only one who did not appear in the series outside of Mr. Peterson's flashback, but her bakery trucks were used to kill the Realtor and nearly killed Enzo. A picture of her does appear on Mr. Peterson's bulletin board in S1E1, suggesting he suspected her of having ties to them or could be a cultist.
- Otto Kinander: Otto Kinander was the only one who did not appear to be friends with The Bullies. He was confirmed to be an ally to the cultists and stuffed the Golden Apple coins into prize animals for the Golden Apple Amusement Park. As he was only seen without the Crowface costume, It's unclear if he is an official cultist or simply their minion.
Overview[]
The Forest Protectors were a cult inside Raven Brooks, dressed as Ravens and believing in the mystery of the storms around Raven Brooks after Roger and Adelle Peterson's work was discontinued.
After the Petersons were arrested later on, Gordon Cleave joined Channel 4 News to uncover the mysteries of Raven Brooks' unique weather, that seemed to only occur at the town.
When the construction of the Golden Apple Amusement Park began, Gordon Cleave seeked an orb-shaped Weather Sensor that will be a key component in the Forest Protectors' rituals on the storms, when Aaron and Mya Peterson began to interfere, where they would vandalized the Golden Apple Amusement Park, spraying Omen and Cursed all over, telling them to stay out of their way.
When a huge misunderstanding occurred between Aaron, Norman Darby, Gordon and Mr. Peterson, Gordon Cleave got the real Weather Sensor and gathered the Forest Protectors near the Observatory to begin the ceremony. Trinity Bales managed to take photos of Gordon Cleave and Dale Tapps while they were unmasked. After obtaining evidence, she then fled before a fire caught the Golden Apple Amusement Park and the Underground Tunnels at the hands of the townsfolk, who engaged in a ceremony to exact justice for Lucy Yi, who was tragically killed while on The Rotten Core ride. With the Device under the tunnels, Aaron attempted to grab it but lost unconscious from the smoke. The Forest Protectors were supposedly disbanded when Cleave and Tapps were arrested for the murder of Ike Q.C. Gershowitz and for terrorizing Raven Brooks. Tavish isn't exposed, due to him being too scared to go to the ritual, but he was nevertheless removed from office as mayor.
Trivia[]
- The Forest Protectors have been part of the town for a while, dating back at least to the 1960's and still being present in Reset Day, questioning Piper Tillman’s mom.
- The Guest is not a forest protector, but still wears a raven-like suit, but it could be that he has some connection with them. Especially, as he wears one of their cloaks.
- It is implied The Forest Protectors worship the Guest, wearing their raven suits to represent the demon and God of their cult. One of the old Patch 9 teasers heavily imply that the Forest Protectors perform human sacrifices to appease The Guest.
- Took around 30 years for the legend of Forest Protectors to be revealed.
- They were very likely inspired by the Plague Doctors.
- Hello Neighbor 2 was the first game to reveal and showcase some of the Forest Protectors' content.
- They accidentally killed Lucy instead of Mya because they thought The Peterson Family knew too much about them.
- Mr. Peterson is taking their coins in Welcome to Raven Brooks.
- Even though they were exposed in the books, the references to them in Hello Neighbor 2 and Welcome to Raven Brooks suggest that they might be back.
- Contrary to belief, the cult being named The Forest Protectors is a misconception, as that's the name of the myth surrounding the cult, and the falsely planted urban legend. The cult doesn't actually have an exact, specified name, but they are called the Ravens.
- The Forest Protectors are implied to have been the ones behind the disappearance of the Missing Journalist. As he "got too close to them."
