The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are the main antagonists of the Paul G. Tremblay’s 2018 horror novel The Cabin at the End of the World and the 2023 film adaptation Knock at the Cabin.
Leonard is the main antagonist, while Sabrina is the secondary antagonist and both Adriane and Redmond are major antagonists.
Leonard, the de-facto leader of the Horsemen, was portrayed by Dave Bautista, who also played Mr. Hinx in Spectre, Aldar in Smallville, Tong Po in Kickboxer: Vengeance, Owen Davidson in Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy, Glossu Rabban Harkonnen in the 2021 remake film Dune and the Parakeet King in the English version of The Boy and the Heron. Meanwhile, Sabrina was portrayed by Nikki Amuka-Bird, Adriane was played by Abby Quinn, and Redmond was portrayed by Rupert Grint.
Biography[]
According to Leonard, he and the three others did not know each other prior but some supernatural force brought them together via horrific visions of the apocalypse. While Wen was collecting grasshoppers, she is met by Leonard who at first assists her in catching grasshoppers only for Wen to become increasingly unsettled by Leonard's questions as well as noticing the other three arriving.
Leonard and the others break into the cabin and tie the family up. They explain that the apocalypse was impending and that Wen's family had been selected with the cruel decision to sacrifice one of themselves so that the end could be averted likely because the love they had for each other was pure.
Naturally, Andrew and Eric do not believe the claims (with Andrew believing that they are harassing them for being gay) so Redmond puts a white cloth on his face and is beaten to death by the other three his death starting the first part of the Apocalypse. Megatsunamis form from massive earthquakes causing several casualties.
The next day, Adriane tries to find common ground with Eric and Andrew by revealing she was a parent of a young boy. Once the parents refuse again, Adriane dies next and with her death, a mysterious outbreak of influenza spreads effecting children. Andrew remembers that he had a gun in his car and successfully escapes.
During the grapple with the gun, Sabrina is fatally shot. Airplanes begin falling from the sky without warning even though Andrew was initially firmly convinced the events were pre-recorded by Leonard and the others since he always glanced at his wristwatch.
Leonard, now the only one remaining, signals the family to go outside the cabin explaining that they now only had a few minutes to make their choice before all of humanity is judged. He then slits his own throat as he sat in the rocking chair. The sky begins to darken as it is made more abundantly obvious that the four unrelated people were right in their visions. Andrew is forced to shoot a willing Eric after he explains to him that he saw a vision of an adult Wen alongside Andrew. With his death, the apocalypse is averted.
