“ | Of course I know. You're the little asswipe who raised my children and turned them into animals, into monsters who- who lie and steal and take advantage of people and contribute absolutely nothing to society. [...] I was just trying to push you two to your limit, but apparently you... you have none! So...[...] You're the most horrible people alive. | „ |

“ | The owners all deserve to rot in jail, though having to spend every day with each other in that vile establishment is a decidedly greater punishment. That is why I decided not to press charges, leaving them to live in the hell on earth they've created for themselves for the rest of their pathetic and miserable lives. | „ |

The Gang are the main protagonists of the FX adult comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They additionally serve as the main antagonists of the Abbott Elementary episode, "Volunteers."
They are a group of amoral friends who run the fictional Paddy's Pub bar in Philadelphia. The group consists of Ronald "Mac" McDonald, Charlie Kelly, Dee Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds, and Frank Reynolds.
They are often known for doing immoral deeds which disgust the community around them. However, their most despicable member would be Dennis, as his motives are so depraved to the point where even the rest of the Gang would condemn his actions.
Biography[]
Before The Gang, Mac and Charlie were childhood friends who bonded over throwing rocks at trains during Christmas. A few years later, Mac and Charlie met Dennis and Dee at Saint Joseph's Preparatory School were they started the Gang along with various former members, including Dooley, who killed himself, Psycho Pete, who was put in a mental institution for "murdering his family" and Peter "Schmitty" Schmidt, who they later threw out of a moving car.
After graduating, The Gang tried to have a good time at their local roller rink before going their separate ways, which fails when Charlie, Dennis and Mac buy Paddy's Pub, to which Dee is later hired there after her Hollywood career fails.
A few years later, Frank divorces his wife Barbara and joins The Gang when he takes over as owner of Paddy's Pub. Since this event, the Gang have gone into situation after situation to get their way and it seems as though this fact will always stay the same.

Trivia[]
- Despite The Gang's lack of empathy and morals mostly coming their arrogance and selfishness, the entirety of the Gang's members, have lived in some kind of traumatic environment or suffered from an extremely traumatic event, which could explain why The Gang acts the way they do.
- Charlie grew up in extremely poor environment with an psychologically disturbed mother, an uncle, who has been heavily implied to have molested Charlie at a young age, as well as growing up with a lack of intelligence.
- Mac also grew up poor, with a mother and father who didn't care for him and were criminals, as well as Mac growing up Catholic, which caused him to grow up under very strict rules, he felt he had to follow, unless he would go to Hell.
- Dennis was raped by a school librarian at the age of 14, which he also claimed to be when he lost the ability to have feelings, which most likely also caused Dennis to later emotionally manipulate women to have sex with him as an adult.
- Dee was treated horribly by her mother, bullied at school because of her back brace, along with her dreams of becoming a Hollywood star being crushed after she graduated high school.
- Frank was put in a mental institution at a young age, had no friends as a kid and became depressed and angry after his brother betrayed him by stealing his "true love" as a young man. Eventually, in the Season 2 finale, Frank also found out that he was not really the father of Dennis and Dee and was manipulated by Barbara into raising them, an event that caused him to finally snap and turn into his psychotic self we see today.
- All of the members of The Gang are delusional and have a sense of grandiose about themselves in some way. Dennis has delusions of grandeur about his looks and self-importance, Mac is delusional about his karate skills and heterosexuality and Dee has a desperate need for attention and is overconfident about her charisma in social situations. The only members of the Gang who seem to be outliers are Frank and Charlie, as they both seem comfortable with their own stupidity and overall weirdness.
- Mac is the only member of The Gang to have been a member from the very beginning as well as never being kicked out or left on his own choice.
- Charlie and Dennis have both temporarily left at least once.
- Frank and Dee were never considered the initial members of the gang, with Frank only joining the show in its second season.
- Mac was almost kicked out of the gang once to be replaced by his cousin, but he died before it could be carried out.
