~ The General to Admiral Razorbeard |
The General (also known as the Grolgoth Salesman) is the unnamed minor antagonist from Rayman 2: The Great Escape. Although his role in the game isn't big, it is very important for the last battle.
Appearance
He has purple skin and wear a uniform with several badges pinned to it and a hat which hides his eyes. He is limbless and it is possible that he is the same species as Rayman and the other characters from the original Rayman game.
History
Tonic Trouble
Although this game is not one from Rayman series, the General appears in its PC version for the first time. He instructs the main protagonist Ed about his plan after court at which Ed is being reprimanded for spilling the titular tonic.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
The General's first appearance in Rayman universe. He arrives at the Buccaneer in a small flying vehicle as "a very special guest". He offers a machine called the Grolgoth to Admiral Razorbeard for sale.
Razorbeard, hoping this will help him to finally destroy Rayman, bought the Grolgoth and gives the General a huge pirate's chest full of gold. The Grolgoth that he sold appears again as the final boss of the game.
Rayman 2 (2D prototype)
The General's bigger role comes in the now-cancelled 2D version of Rayman 2 where he is seen fighting Rayman, while he stands atop a wrecking ball (like Razoff in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc). He also smokes his cigar and shouts orders to his servants.
Trivia
- In the Japanese version of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, the General's skin is green instead of purple.
