The Generals are a villainous group serving as the main antagonists of the video game Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. They were a military regime that came into power in the Republic of Estovakia following the conclusion of the civil war in the country, and subsequently invaded the neighbouring Republic of Emmeria.
History[]
The Generals were originally the leaders of the Eastern Faction during the Estovakian Civil War. Having won the war and taken control of the country, they estabilished a military regime there. In August 2015, they declared war on Emmeria, which many of their citizens felt resentment towards due to their actions during the Estovakian Civil War, with Estovakian troops quickly taking control of the enemy capital, Gracemeria, through the power of their Aerial Fleet, and pushing the Emmerian forces towards the west. Emmerian forces regrouped on Khesed Island and eventually repelled Estovakian attacks and began a counteroffensive. The Generals planned to destroy Gracemeria if Emmeria tried to retake it, but the destruction of Fort Norton housing weapons of mass destruction and the subsequent liberation of the capital cut their plans short and forced them to negotiate peace. Some members of the military, however, including Gustav Dvornik, opposed the negotiations and attempted to inflict even more damage on Emmeria with the Chandelier railgun. Their plans, however, were foiled by the Emmerian pilots Talisman and Shamrock, and Dvornik was killed while attempting to flee. Soon afterwards, a coup d'etat took place in Estovakia, and the Generals were overthrown, ending their despotic rule.
Structure[]
"The Generals" were a military junta, meaning they had direct control over not just Estovakia's armed forces, but civillian government branches as well. It's unknown which general is the highest-ranking member of the regime, or if there even is such among them, as they all could have equal power and carry out decisions in unison.
Trivia[]
- Gustav Dvornik is the only member of the organization to be directly encountered by the player. His plane can spawn in the mission "Chandelier" on "Expert" difficulty, but doesn't engage in combat, only attempting to escape the battlefield.
