The Great Hog is the secondary antagonist of the 2025 fantasy action-adventure film A Minecraft Movie, based on Mojang Studios' Minecraft franchise. A hulking figure, he is a mechanically modified Piglin who towers over the rest of Malgosha's army, serving as her "ultimate weapon." As soon as he was released, he began hunting down the heroes under his leader's orders.
Biography[]
Sometime around the mid-90s or early 2000s, the Great Hog received his brain and was unleashed. He was then ordered to kill General Chungus for failing to capture Steve and the Orb of Dominance. After doing so, Malgosha ordered him to find Steve and bring her the Orb.
The Great Hog succeeds and manages to find Steve, Garrett, and Henry in the mines. He tries to catch them, but they escape in a Redstone-powered cart, in addition to using a Creeper Farm to blow up the gigantic Piglin.
The Hog appears once again during the film's climax, where he's ordered to keep the Orb under Piglin possession; he fails, being pummeled by the Swift Golem after a long and rigorous battle.
Appearance[]
The Great Hog is a mechanically modified, giant Piglin. He wears leather robes, steel shoulder pads connected by chains, and a steel snout protector. Instead of his right hand, he has an Arm-cannon that shoots energy beams, serving as his main weapon.
Personality[]
The Great Hog is Malgosha's "Ultimate Weapon" and follows only her orders. He is destructive, brutal and behaves like an animal, often trampling even other Piglins. Despite his brutality, he is loyal to his queen and seems to possess some kind of intellect.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Great Hog as the "Ultimate Weapon" has improved abilities such as:
- Immense strength: His most powerful weapon is his incredible strength. He could knock down Golems with incredible ease and crush everything around him.
- Immense durability: He could break through walls or completely ignore Creepers explosions, without any problems or major damage.
- Immense speed: Despite his enormous size, he was exceptionally fast and agile, easily catching up with Steve, Garrett and Henry.
- Immense stamina: During a fight or chase, it was difficult to tire him out, he could cover large distances and fight for a long time without a break.
- Arm-cannon: One of his main weapons is the Arm-cannon which fired energy beams and could destroy almost any target in a few seconds. It was also able to knock down Henry's Golem during the final fight.
Trivia[]
- In Minecraft Legends, a character of the same name is the leader of the Piglins, while a sorcerer named the Seer is his right hand. Funnily enough, their roles are switched in the movie, where Malgosha, who is based off the Seer, is the leader while the Great Hog is her right hand.
- Despite being named after the Great Hog from Minecraft Legends, his design resembles the Unbreakable instead.
