The Grinch is the titular main protagonist of the loose video game adaptation of the 2000 film Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

He is voiced by Josh Gerhardt.

Biography

This version of the Grinch is a loose adaptation of the film version. Similar to the film, he is a hermit who lives in Mount Crumpet and despises the Whos. Unlike his film counterpart his tragic backstory is omitted from the game, and he outright decides to ruin the Whos lives by terrorising Whoville and causing mass vandalism and terrorist acts. Whilst something of a prankster in the film, his activities are extremely dangerous. Not content with just terrorising Whoville, he unleashes his terror on the outskirts of the town such as Who Forest, Who Dump and Who Lake. Despite his tragic origin being removed, this version of the Grinch also shares a distrain for Mayor Augustus Maywho and carries out several acts to ruin his life.

The Grinch carries out most of his tasks through the use of his inventions, which he builds with the use of lost blueprints that were blown out of his cave. He also enlists the help of Max in his quests and to access areas the Grinch wouldn't be able to reach.

Despite his attempts to ruin the Whos, they still celebrate the upcoming Christmas holidays, much to his annoyance. He decides to ruin their Christmas so compiles together a sleigh with parts scattered around Whoville, and creates himself a Santa outfit. On Christmas Eve he hunts down Santa Claus and shoots down his sleigh and steals the presents. On Christmas morning the Grinch listens out for the Whos anguish, only to overhear them singing. His heart grows and the Grinch comes to regret his actions, and he promptly returns to the presents to the Whos.

Trivia

• Not counting the horror parody version of the character The Mean One, this version of the Grinch is the most brutal and pettiest due to his many acts of terrorism and vandalism that he carries out during the course of the game.
