The Guest first appears, as a shadow above Mr. Peterson, whilst he is napping a chair. Before both disappear. Implying The Guest possibly has teleportation or hallucination powers. Then we also see Aaron, running from The Guest, who flies towards him in the form of a crow, before turning back into his main form. The Guest offers him a deal of some kind with strange puppet-like dolls, but Aaron runs off, so The Guest left. Later. When trapped in the basement, Aaron gets a visit from him. The Guest offers him the same deal. This time, Aaron accepts it and becomes possessed by The Guest, who escapes his prison. Eventually, Mr. Peterson encounters The Guest himself, not knowing that it was his son who had morphed. Horrified at the sight of the creature. Mr. Peterson ran for his life as the Guest chases him down. After a brief chase, the latter arrives at a room filled with missing children posters and finds Mr. Peterson crying in fear as he succumbs to his fate. Once the Guest reaches him, Aaron finds himself at the last door. The Guest then appears before him and gives him the key to free Nicky before disappearing.

Hello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brooks[]

Mr. Peterson is done, now so are you. Lose this coin, lose your life.
~ A note possibly written by the Guest.

The Guest makes a cameo in Episode 6 of the first season of Hello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brooks, near the very end. When Trinity, while in bed, receives a threatening note from an enigmatic writer, possibly the Guest himself, the letter says that "Mr. Peterson is done, now so is she". It further warns her that if she loses the coin that was included in the letter then she'll die in turn." There is one of the Forest Protector coins in the letter. After checking outside her window, the Guest's beak was seen outside her door before closing it. After rushing out to find the Guest, who had disappeared, Trinity soon realized that Mr. Peterson is not the only threat in Raven Brooks.

Personality[]

The Guest is an extremely enigmatic and unknown entity, he takes what he wants from people, more specifically. He takes what he thinks people do not deserve, and what they love from people. He is extremely envious, greedy and unsympathetic, not caring for the aftermath. When he takes someone, or something. They become lost, not grew distant from, or even death. They are lost. Not caring for the tragedies that occur afterwards.

The Guest is also an highly sadistic and malicious creature. He enjoys and takes sadistic pleasure and pride, when targeting someone who suffers from lots of trauma, particularly sadness and loss, as during The Raven Brooks Disaster, he manifested in Regina's dreams, he emotionally, mentally and psychologically tormented her about her dog. Cold-heartedly revealing that she's been living a delusion, and Flan was dead. Calling her fantasy embarassing, and he believes it's for the better. As he also calls her fantasy, childish and morbid. Saying that Regina is too old for imaginary friends, especially a dead pet.

He enjoys bad luck, feeding off of it. And seemingly gaining more power, from the more bad luck created by The Forest Protectors. And growing stronger.

He is highly intelligent, as he knew about Regina's memories and stepsister, and knew how to use ChatterBack to stalk Piper. Showing he is no stranger to digital media. His sadism also applied to Piper Tillman, and Trinity Bates. As through ChatterBack. The Guest sent creepy texts, and stalked Piper. As he kidnapped her mother and Enzo Esposito, and he is implied to have sent a note, and broke into Trinity's house, threatening if Trinity lost the coin that was attached to the letter, she would lose her life. He is also implied to be the God of the Forest Protectors. And if that is true, he was the mastermind behind Lucy Yi's death, the fortune Forest Protectors give themselves and everything. He also manipulated the events of Mr. Peterson being arrested for his amusement, to see if the kids could outsmart him or not.

The Guest has no qualms about targetting or breaking down children, as he tormented Regina about her dog Flan. Taking sadistic pleasure in this. Calling her fantasy of Flan being alive "embarassing", along with it being called "morbid and childish". And during the Season 1 finale of Hello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brooks, he also sent a threat to Trinity, warning if she lost a coin, that came with his possible letter. She would lose her life as well, this is because the coins represent bad luck. It is strongly implied, due to his appearance right after Theo's arrest, The Guest had manipulated and orchestrated Peterson's arrest, for his own sadistic entertainment and amusement. To see whether or not if the kids could outsmart him. Showing on some odd thrill, The Guest enjoys orchestrated entertainment. But this was likely orchestrated. Not only to see if the kids could outsmart him or not. But possibly, to get Mr. Peterson out of the way, so that way, without Mr. Peterson involved, The Forest Protectors' plans can go unimpeded. As there was way too many cops for the event of Mr. Peterson chased the Rescue Squad, when rescuing Nicky for the event to be a simple disturbance call.

He is a dealmaker, creating strange puppet-like dolls which link the deal-taker to him. And the cult's bad luck. The dolls also allow The Guest to communicate telepathically to the deal-taker, and allows him to take over their body and mind. As he enforced Aaron to taking the Guest doll, as it was his only way of freedom.

His sadistic nature can go personally, as he psychologically tormented Regina about Flan, and morphed into Pris to torment her, saying she should be happy, and that she didn't need an imaginary dog anymore. The Guest called her fantasy, so sad and pathetic, then creating a false version of Flan which was comprised of feathers, revealing it was fake and bursting into laughter as the feathers blew away. He also kidnapped Piper Tillman's mother.

The Guest also is especially sadistic towards Mr. Peterson, as he haunts him. Chasing him as Peterson didn't know that it was his son possessed by the creature, he torments Mr. Peterson, and is always haunting him. Either through hallucinations or something else.

He seemingly has a flair for mysteries surrounding himself, and revolving around his legend. As when he took the form of Pris and tormented Regina by manifesting in her dreams, The Guest was told by Regina. "That's not Flan, and you're not Pris." The Guest replied with "No? Then what am I?" The Guest is highly deceptive and manipulative, as he can make people think different things, as indirectly, he made Regina and Pris believe he was Mr. Peterson, and made them that the reason he took things was because he was lonely, and took things to make people experience the same pain Mr. Peterson had. But in reality, The Guest wasn't human, and is an entity. Who merely possessed Mr. Peterson. Or he can convince someone he's on their side, as he created an imaginary dog, a fake Flan for Regina. And helped Aaron escape his prison. Showing he is a cunning manipulator.

Trivia:[]

  • It was originally assumed that The Guest was Mr. Peterson in a bird costume, this proved half-right and wrong, in a way.As in Reset Day and the Raven Brooks Disaster. The Guest possesses Peterson.
  • Other speculations of it's identity included Aaron, however it was proven that The Guest isn't human, and Aaron wouldn't be old enough.
  • The Guest's identity has changed through the lore revamps. As originally, when Hello Guest was discovered. It was believed he was Mr. Peterson in an crow costume, however with the graphic novel Hello Neighbor: The Raven Brooks Disaster, and the book Reset Day, along with the game Hello Neighbor VR: Search and Rescue later revealed that the Guest isn't human, and is a entity of sorts. Possibly a demon, or the living embodiment of Theodore's emotions.
  • The Guest is not a forest protector, but still wears a raven-like suit, but it could be that he had some connection with them. Or he is their God or the demon they worshipping, etc.
  • The Guest's connection to The Forest Protectors is strengthened by him wearing one of their cloaks.
  • It's implied that The Guest is a demon, or demonic entity. Or supernatural entity because of the ability to possess people. The supernatural powers such as shapeshifting, dealmaking and body-swapping.
  • It's also possible The Guest is a manifestation of Theodore's emotions. Which wouldn't be impossible when The Thing is a representation of fears.
  • The VR game heavily implies that the way Aaron was able to free Nicky from his prison, inside Mr. Peterson's house was because The Guest made a deal with him.
  • It's possible The Guest is the enigmatic writer of the threatening Forest Protector letter that Trinity received. As he was seen outside her door.
  • However, it is unknown on who wrote the threat, but it is possibly The Guest, due to the teasers of Welcome to Raven Brooks Season 2. And because he was the one outside Trinity's door.
  • The only confirmed fact on his origins is he was birthed from something that was connected and related to Mr. Peterson.
  • It could be possible that The Guest is the main antagonist of Hello Neighbor 2, and possibly he was the planned antagonist of the whole series altogether. Thus demoting the Shadow Man to a smaller role. And making the Guest the true antagonist.
