The Haunted Mask is a major antagonist in the Goosebumps books and TV show. It is a mask that will possess whoever wears it. It is also the secondary antagonist of the movie Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween.
Personality[]
The mask is cruel and sadistic, taking pleasure in tormenting it's victims. It is also very cunning, being able to think up lots of evil plans. It also might be rather sensitive about it's appearance, as it get's provoked easily when people call it what it really is: a scary mask.
Appearance[]
The mask appears as a hideous goblin-like creature, with oily green skin and razor sharp teeth.
Biography[]
Origin[]
The mask, along with the other "unloved ones", was once a beautiful face, that where made to hide an insecure shopkeeper's face. However, the shopkeeper's dark thoughts began to rot and decay the mask, to a hideous state. This caused the mask to become cruel and evil.
The Haunted Mask[]
The mask gets stolen by a young, bullied girl, named Carly Beth, who stole the mask to scare her school bullies. The mask started off by making her a little ruder and progressed, making her more and more violent and narcissistic. She began to attack her friends and get extremely hoot-headed She soon realized that it was truly the mask behind everything and tries to take it off but the mask had gotten stuck to her face, and wouldn't come off. She soon realized she needed to accept who she was as a person to defeat the evil of the mask and was able to remove the mask when she did.
The Haunted Mask II[]
Later on, the shopkeeper, hellbent on killing the mask once and for all, dug up the mask and tried to burn it. The mask leaped onto his face and made him go around causing terror. But the mask soon realized, that the body it had chosen was weak and decrepit. So it created a new mask to continue its evil.
The Scream of the Haunted Mask[]
A year after the events of the first Haunted Mask it's Halloween again and Carly is struggling with the mask's influence. Sabrina takes it and buries it to avoid it corrupting Carly Beth again though Carly Beth retrieves it so she can put it on and use its power to defeat the ghost Laura. She takes it off again by feeding the horses, a symbol of love.
Escape from Horrorland[]
The Haunted Mask appears amongst many other floating masks that attack the kids in Horrorland. Carly Beth is unable to resist it and puts on the mask though Sabrina kisses her on the cheek and is able to remove it.
Goosebumps Wanted: The Haunted Mask[]
In the first part of the book, mask shop owner William is forced to put on the Haunted Mask by his cousin Randolph and tears off his face while trying to remove it causing his death. In the second part, Lu-Ann Franklin finds the Haunted Mask in the attic while attending the party. She puts it on, ignoring the warnings of William's ghost and starts terrifying people. In Part Three, Lu-Ann's friend Devin is nearly killed by a ghost named Haywood but Lu-Ann stops him and is able to take off the mask thanks to that act of kindness.

The Haunted Mask makes a slit second cameo in the 2015 Goosebumps movie as one of the monsters released by Slappy to cause havoc.
Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween[]
The Haunted Mask makes an appearance in Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween (the sequel to the 2015 movie), as one of the haunted costumes that Slappy recruits to take over Halloween, except the mask is shown as a big dumb brute that possesses a convenience store clerk.
Goosebumps: HorrorTown[]
The Haunted Mask is an unlockable monster in the video game Goosebumps: HorrorTown.
