The Hollow is the main antagonist of the animated science fiction TV series Scavenger's Reign. It is a psychic creature living on the planet of Vesta that could control other creatures and used them to collect food for it. Although initially a fairly harmless herbivore, when it accidentally formed a symbiotic relationship with a human named Kamen, it began to eat meat and began moving up the food chain. As it grew in size, it began to become a threat for other humans stranded on the planet Vesta. Due to its thoughts merging with Kamen's, it became obsessed with controlling more humans.
Appearance[]
The Hollow was a gray-frog-like creature with four black legs and a black back, as well as a stubby gray tail. Its face was generally smaller than its head, and it had an expression that seemed perpetually angry. When it began eating other animals it started to grow until it was the size of a large car.
Personality[]
Initially, the Hollow was simply an animal acting on instinct. It did seem to have a sort of alien intelligence that it used to manipulate the creatures it used to get food. It was also able to effectively manipulate Kamen using hallucinations, but it is unclear how much of what the hallucinations did was consciously decided by the Hollow. It was also scared rather easily.
Upon developing a symbiotic relationship with Kamen, it began to develop unusual traits from its species. Due to Kamen giving it the opportunity, it began eating meat despite being an herbivore, until meat became an essential part of its diet. It also began to feel Kamen's pain, guilt, and, more specifically, his love for Fiona. It began lashing out at the world around it due to these factors, showing genuine malice. It also began targeting humans as a misinterpretation of Kamen's need for companionship.
Biography[]
The Hollow controlled various creatures on Vesta by filling them with black goop and having them get food for it. One day, it was chased away from its feeding space by a larger member of its species. It was around this time that it met Kamen, who it controlled with visions of his dead wife Fiona, in order to get food for itself.
