The Infected, also known as The Thralls of Iratus, are the secondary antagonists of Halo Infinite: Seasons.
They are a corrupted race of Spartans who are under the influence of Iratus after he takes over the ONI facility in the Avery J. Johnson Academy of Military Science and spread their corruption to the other Spartans to infect them to join their ranks.
Biography[]
The Infected were originally Spartan-IVs of the UNSC who are students of the Avery J. Johnson Academy of Military Science training to fight for humanity. After Iratus' capture, he was able to gain enough intelligence about an ONI facility from Dinh and manage to escape containment to infilitrate the ONI facility. Despite a few difficulties with the facility's security, he manage to breach the system where he gathered enough intelligence begin hacking the systems.
The activity would be alerted by Dinh as he has shown his concerns since his conversation with Iratus haunting him through the memories he gain information from. By the time Dinh and Eklund break into the facility to learn about it and Dinh decided to let his past go, it was already far too late as Iratus takes full control of the facility and declares the Spartans' secrets now belong to the Banished. He then uses the Spartan suit as a matrix of his influence, infecting and corrupting several Spartan-IVs into his personal army of zombies. Under Iratus' influence, they seek to find any surviving Spartan whom are yet to be infected and attack them to join their ranks to hunt down the remaining survivors.
Following the cancellation of the story, the infected presumably make their success of infecting the entire academy under Iratus' control.
Trivia[]
- In the unreleased cutscene of Season 4, the infected would have presumably died off after Iratus was eventually defeated to prevent him from continuing his corruption on the other Spartans. With the seasons story cancelled, it is likely that they may have won against the UNSC.
- With the Flood Spartans now playable in the multiplayer of Halo Infinite following Season 5 and are easily infected into another infected minion of Iratus, this could be possible that Iratus may be strong enough to be immune to the Gravemind's Flood corruption code and corrupts it into having any Flood serve him.
