The Jockeys are the main antagonists of The Simpsons episode "Saddlesore Galactica". They are small, malicious creatures posing as average horse jockeys and wear helmets and change their voices in order to blend with the humans.
Role[]
When Homer and Bart try to get their pet horse Duncan to participate as a racehorse, the Jockeys have their horses to intimidate Duncan from ever leaving his stall during the race. The Jockeys then mocked Duncan over his loss.
Fed up with the Jockeys' mockery, Homer and Bart toughened up Duncan (going by the name Furious D) to win several races, much to the Jockeys' annoyance. Eventually, they tricked Homer into stumbling onto their secret lair, where they reveal that their normally happy lifestyle is ruined thanks to Duncan's victories. They demand Homer to forfeit the upcoming championship race, threatening to eat his brain if he does not comply. Homer initially considers the idea, though he later cannot bear to tell his rider son to lose the race, so Homer decides to deal with the Jockeys after the race.
After Duncan wins the championship race, the Jockey furiously chased Homer and Bart, intending to kill them. However, making good on his promise to deal with the Jockeys, Homer gets Bart and Duncan to lure the Jockeys into the Simpson residence, where Marge and Lisa used water guns to push the Jockeys out from their saddles. Homer then stuffed the Jockeys into a trash bag, leaving them out to be picked up by an incoming garbage truck.
Trivia[]
- The Jockeys are loosely based on the Oompa Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory books. Like the Oompa Loompas they sing a song and live in a small, colorful place.
- The Jockeys are almost universally disliked by the Simpsons' fandom due to their outlandishness.
