Ok, here's the deal. You collect 250 grand from your boss and leave it at the drop off point in the docks. I collect it and then I'll tell you where the girl is. Understood?
~ The Kidnapper making his deal with the player.
She's in a blue Fjord down an alley in the centre of the city. Good day to you.
~ The Kidnapper's redemption.

The Kidnapper is a minor character in the 2001 video game Payback and its 2012 sequel, Payback 2 and the main antagonist of the 1st mission in "Born Slippy".

Biography[]

In "Born Slippy", the boss mentions to the player that the kidnapper has kidnapped his daughter and he wants the player to go answer his call before the kidnapper gives up. After the player answers his call, the kidnapper makes a deal with the player that they will give him a ransom of $250,000 and he will tell where the boss' daughter is.

After the player drops the money at the docks and the kidnapper picks it up from his boat, he will give the location of the boss' daughter to the player and thus redeeming himself (at least if the player doesn't choose to kill him). If the player decides to kill the kidnapper after the kidnapper gave the boss' daughter's location, he will trigger a timed bomb in the car the boss' daughter was in, which would explode in 1 minute unless the player got her to the boss' warehouse. It will also be noticed that the kidnapper chained up the boss' daughter in the car.

Personality[]

Despite having only a small amount of voice lines, and very much unlike the typical antagonist, the kidnapper is presented as a calm and affable man. He honest and does his own end of the deal and telling the location of the boss' daughter (leading to his redemption in the original ending) instead of deceiving the player and simply taking the money for himself. He only triggers the bomb in the alternate ending when the player tries to kill him rather than already planning to trick the player proactively. He has a level of manners as he says "good day to you" to the player after they paid him their ransom and the kidnapper gave the location of the boss' daughter.
