The King of All Cosmos is the main antagonist of the Katamari video game series. He is physically, verbally, and psychologically abusive to his son, nephews, and nieces. His descriptions shown in-game are written ironically, due to their hypocritical praising.
Biography[]
The King was put through extreme training as a child. His father who he refers to as "Papa" did this to ensure that he grew up to be a strong King someday. Unfortunately, this resulted in trauma which ended up being projected onto The King's only son, The Prince. The King's backstory is revealed through cutscenes, which are unlocked as you progress in We Love Katamari.
After the events of Katamari Damacy, he is admired by his fans on Earth. However, this fuels his ego. While Katamari Damacy's game over only contains verbal abuse, the proceeding games' game overs contain both physical and mental abuse, with the exception of Touch My Katamari.
Game Over Screens[]
The King is infamous in the gaming community for his extreme punishments he gives out in return for an unfulfilling katamari.
Katamari Damacy[]
The screen goes dark and thunder strikes while The King towers over the player. He shames you for failing. With each lightning strike, his pose changes.
We Love Katamari[]
After failing a fan's request, the fan is seen on The King's shoulder, complaining about your failure. The King rants about your unsuccessful rolling whilst shooting lasers from his eyes towards the player. The player must avoid the lasers, and will shrink when hit.
Me & My Katamari[]
The player is tied to a rope and is forced to dodge The King as he continuously throws punches at you. He throws insults and shames you for the katamari.
Beautiful Katamari[]
The player must run away from pool balls on a billiard table shot by the King.
