The Last Judge is a major antagonist in the 2025 indie metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong. She is the merciless and harsh leader of the Judges, being the final judge of the Pilgrims that seek to enter Pharloom’s Citadel. During Hornet’s ascent to the Citadel, the Last Judge directly intervenes in an attempt to kill Hornet, thus causing her to serve as the main final boss of Act 1.
She is voiced by Lauren Koopowitz, who also voices Widow, Sister Splinter, Greyroot and many of Silksong's other characters.
Appearance[]
The Last Judge is a towering bug with a grey thorax and darker abdomen. She wears bronze pauldrons, darker brown arm guards and leg armour, and has black hands. She wears a crown-like helmet and has a golden face that appears to be some sort of mask, with black streaks leaking from her eyes. The Last Judge wields a golden censer on a chain in battle, which can ignite into flame.
Biography[]
The Judges are a species of bug that were tasked in eliminating everyone in their path that they deemed impure, only ensuring that sinless would be allowed through the Grand Gate to reach the citadel. The Last Judge, their leader, guarded the Grand Gate itself, having wiped out countless bugs for generations.
To open the Grand Gate, Hornet must find five large bells across Pharloom and ring them, then play the Needolin at the gate. But before the door can open, the Last Judge emerges from the background and attacks, killing the two accompanying Pilgrims.
The Last Judge attacks by flailing her censer around herself, hurling it before reeling it back, or leaping into the air and slamming down. However, once she reaches a certain amount of damage, the Last Judge lightens the censer, causing it to emit fire from its attacks; the censer will summon waves of flames telegraphed by embers, the hurl will cause an explosion where it lands, and the slam will unleash a shockwave of flames across the entire ground. She will also gain a new charge attack where the Last Judge will dash across the ground, leaving several pillars of flames.
Once the Last Judge goes down, she will unleash one last fiery blast from her censer in an attempt to take out Hornet, dealing three masks worth of damage if she is caught in the blast. Should that be avoided, all that remains of the Last Judge is a burnt husk, which falls apart, allowing Hornet to enter the Citadel via the Grand Gate.

- Alternatively, Hornet can enter the Citadel via fighting the Phantom instead, delaying the Last Judge's fight to future Acts.
- The Last Judge was previously referred to as male in promotional content but is confirmed to be female in-game via localisations of the game and a statement by Ari Gibson on the official Hollow Knight Discord server. To reflect this, she has a female voice actress in the final release.
