Biography[]
The Monkey is the most enigmatic of the known cryptids, playing a relatively small role in the story so far, compared to its colleagues, The Dog and Cat cryptids. A wanderer using the alias 'X' warns the protagonist, David, to not trust the Cat or the Monkey, as they are liars and are dangerous. This is further established by the source code of the Stress Level Zero website, which contains ASCII art of the monkey, and a message saying not to believe his lies.
The monkey doll leaves a note that impersonates 'X' to David saying that he's safe, and that the cryptids are no longer a threat, however this is quickly proven to be a lie when The Dog appears in his house and murders his mother before attempting to murder David as well.
The monkey dolls later appear to be watching Arthur Ford throughout Boneworks, with the Monkey having presumably taken interest in him for unknown reasons. The Monkey is suggested to have assisted him in his scheme to upload his consciousness into the void. A message from 'X' also credits helping Ford find the gravity gun, although it's unknown if this was really 'X' or the monkey posing as 'X' again. The dolls establish themselves to have unique properties, such as being the only object to not make a sound when reclaimed. They also growl when destroyed with the utility gun, implying that the Monkey can feel.
