~ The Monster's introduction

The Monster, also called Taoking in merchandise, is the main antagonist of the 1995 comic book miniseries The Big Guy And Rusty the Boy Robot. It is a hive mind that wants to take over the world.

Biography[]

The Monster's past is unknown. However, it is implied that its presence inspired certain myths, such as dragons and dinosaurs. One day, for unknown reasons, the Monster entered a period of hibernation lasting four millions of year. He was roused from his slumber by Japanese scientists, who were aware of its presence and put it into an ooze to try to recreate its body. However, this experiment wakened him up. Once awakened, the Monster made his way back to the scientific laboratory. Once awakened, the Monster climbs back up to the scientific laboratory, enters and destroys the building. Now out on the streets of Tokyo, he begins a rampage and taunts the human race that it will be extinct, and that humans are fools.

The Monster fires his beam several times, then takes a part of a destroyed to eat the people haven taken refuge into it. The victims are painfully digested and dissolved, reduced first to nutrients then to naked energy. However, the Monster vomits what it is left of its victims. It is then revealed that they are transforming into enslaved and brainwashed dinosaurs.

Realizing that the Monster not only wants to destroy and eat humans, but to reduce them into his servants, the Japanese government sends its troops to kill the Monster. Unfortunately for them, its skin proves itself to be too thick for the bullets and the Monster immediately kills them all. Several tanks arrive and fire at the Monster, only to be defeated in one second by its beam.

Running out of option, the Japanese army tasks a robotic prototype named Little One to defeat the Monster. Little One meets the Monster, who quickly catches him, let him fall, and hits him with its tail, all the while mocking him and calling him a little toy. After that, it steps on him.

Just when all hope seemed lost, the Prime Minister unveiled another solution: a device to activate the Big Guy, a powerful robot lying on a battleship located in the Persian Gulf. The Prime Minister only manages to activate the device in extremis as the Monster holds him in his hand and prepares to devour him.

The Big Guy arrives in Tokyo to face the Monster. The latter is dismissive of him and thinks of him as another meat. While analyzing it, the Big Guy realizes that the Monster can read his thoughts. The robot, however, manages to fool it for a moment when throwing two missiles at its nostrils while forcing himself to think the missiles are toys. The missiles explodes and the Monster seemingly falls to his death.

While the Big Guy tries to revert the Monster’ servants to humans, the Monster, healing quickly from its injuries, tries to step on him. The Big Guy narrowly avoids being crushed, but he delivers him a powerful punch, making the Monster fall on his back. Enraged, the Monster spits venom at him. The Big Guy sees with horror that the venom rapidly expands on him and that the infection is molecular, composed of small cells who can speak. The Big Guy eventually gets rid of it. Enraged, the Monster tries to finish him off, but the Big Guy escapes in the subway.

Down into the subway, the Big Guy takes a train, goes outside with it, and uses it as a lasso, wrapping it around its nick. He then lifts it in the air, up to the outer space. He then lets it fall into the ocean and signals it US army. They waste no time into launching a nuclear missile which manages to land into the Monster’s maw and explodes, reducing the Monster to atoms.

The Big Guy eventually manages to transform the Monster' servants back into their human forms.

Personality[]

The Monster is described as nothing more than an extremely sadistic and arrogant monster. It relishes at terrorizing people and making them his slaves through painful digestion. It also considers itself near-invincible, laughing at humans and deeming them as "useless fools". It has a strange habit to refer itself to the first person plural.
