I've been thinking a lot about what you said. About the Saints. I've been alone for a long time... I always viewed friends as a liabilty... a weakness. But I was wrong. Seeing you with Kev, Neenah, Eli. They really make you stronger... I want to know what that feels like.
~ The Nahualli

The Nahualli is the main antagonist in the 2022 video game Saints Row, being a reboot of the Saints Row series.

The Nahualli is a mysterious man who heads an equally mysterious, nameless criminal organization. He is known for his cunning, ruthlessness and efficiency in killing people and committing crimes. The Nahualli and his men are hiding in Silver Pass, an abandoned Old West city hidden in the deserts of Santo Ileso, patiently planning their next criminal enterprise.

He was voiced by Christian Lanz.

Biography[]

Past[]

At an unknown time, the Nahualli was a member of the Aztec cartel and became the leader of a faction based in Silver Pass in the desert on the outskirts of Santo Ileso. His gang, although unnamed, is simply considered his thugs - hired bandits who follow Nahualla's orders in whatever endeavors he undertakes to expand his criminal empire.

Despite his small group, the Nahualli is considered a legend in the criminal underworld, which led to Marshall Defense Industries eventually becoming interested in capturing him.

Saint Row[]

The Nahualli's hideout was located by Marshall Defense Industries and they launched a raid to arrest him. During the raid, he sits calmly in the main saloon, sipping a drink while his men fight countless Marshall Defense Industries soldiers.

The streets of a small town burst into flames as the Marshall APC and his gang go head-to-head in battle. This was only interrupted by the actions of the Boss, a rookie soldier who gains fame after fighting a way through the Nahualli's men, reaching him and crashing the powered lift the criminal had commandeered, leading to his arrest.

The Nahualli had spent much of his days since his capture in a Marshall prison called Frontier West of Lakeshore South. Unlike most other imprisoned criminals, Marshall dedicated an entire cell block exclusively to him to provide themselves with a heightened level of security, including several guards and an observation deck.

This security will be destroyed when the one who captured him, the Boss (who founded the Saints after being fired from the company a few days ago), arrives at the prison and helps the Nahualli escape, destroying much of it in the process. After escaping, the Boss explains to him that the Saints want to rob the Marshall train carrying a large amount of cash and weapons and would like the Nahualli to help them, to which he replies to call him when it is time to talk about the heist.

Some time later, the Nahualli calls the Boss, asking what is next with the train robbery, and the Boss tells him to report to the Saints HQ, an old church, to plan the robbery. When he arrives there, the Boss introduces him to the rest of the crew - Kevin, Neenah and Eli, who are the Boss' friends, roommates and co-founders of the Saints. When the Nahualli asks if they should make a plan for the robbery now, the Boss replies no, which surprises and confuses him. They explain to him that they will spend today getting to know each other and establishing relationships by spending time as each person would like. The Nahualli reluctantly agrees to this and the entire team first arrives at a Los Panteros area, where Neenah paints graffiti, replacing the Panteros graffiti with the Saints tag, which causes a shootout between the five of them and the gangsters.

Then they come to a bar to eat, drink and sing karaoke, but Marshall soldiers enter the bar looking for the escaped Nahualli, which causes another shooting. They steal the Marshall jet bikes at Kevin's request and race them to Jetski Point, even though the Nahualli sees the bikes as useful for a robbery. However, there is another gang hanging out there, the Idols, with a vendetta against Kevin for their betrayal. They defeat them and escape to a hiding place in an old cemetery west of Panther Rock while being pursued by the Panteros, Marshall and the Idols.

The four of them protect the Nahualli as he hides the jet bikes in his hiding place to use in the upcoming train robbery. Then they return to the church celebrating their trip, and when it gets late, the Nahualli leaves, accompanied by the Boss. They talk briefly and the Boss suggests him to join the Saints and he replies that he will think about it and then leaves.

The Nahualli, the Boss and the Saints co-leaders finally come together to hatch a plan to rob the Marshall train carrying a heavy load of weapons and ammunition. The group eventually carried out this plan and attacked the train, with the Nahualli providing support to the Boss, who searches a way to the front of the train.

Unexpectedly, Los Panteros and gang leader Sergio Velez also attacked the train, leading to a three-way battle between Saints, Marshall and the Panteros. Sergio eventually confronted the Boss and was temporarily knocked to the ground. As Sergio moves to deliver a killing blow, the Nahualli appears and instead kills him by stabbing him and cutting out his heart, saving the Boss' life. Ultimately, the robbery is successful, and the Saints throw a party at the church to celebrate their next success.

Despite the Boss' kindness towards the Nahualli and a constant insistence that he join the Saints, the Nahualli eventually became jealous and bitter about his position. After being a loner for most of his life of crime, the Nahualli begins to lust after everything the Boss has, including his friends.

At a party celebrating the Saints' successes so far, the Nahualli sees an opportunity when the Boss stays outside to savor the Saints' successes. The Boss approaches him and then, after a short conversation, the Nahualli stabs his former friend with the knife that the Boss had given him as a gift and souvenir before the robbery, all the while explaining his motives. Then the Nahualli buries the Saints leader alive and then went to the headquarters of the Saints and murdered everyone there and then kidnapped all of the Boss' friends.

After kidnapping the Boss' friends, he places them in a recreated room that mimics the apartment where they lived with the Boss. The Nahualli tried to act out the life of the Boss, becoming impatient with his friends when they showed signs of rejecting him. Unbeknownst to him, the Boss survived being stabbed and buried and returned to save Kevin, Neenah and Eli. He receives a message from the Nahualli to meet where it all began, in the Silver Gulch. The Boss goes there and kills most of Nahualli's men, but he and his hostages are nowhere to be found. One of the living thugs gives him the Nahualli's location. The Boss goes to the casino in El Dorado where the Nahualli is holding the Boss' friends. The Saints leader fights a way through the Nahualli's men and saves Kevin, Neenah and Eli, ultimately culminating in a duel on the roof. The Nahualli loses, losing his life in the process as the Boss, Kevin, Neenah and Eli enjoy the sunset following the confrontation.
