~ The Noise

Theodore Noise, best known as simply The Noise, is a playable character and the secondary antagonist of the 2023 video game Pizza Tower. He is a famous TV star and newscaster, as well as Peppino's arch-rival.

During the events of the game, The Noise is hired by Pizzahead to guard a giant key, likely only staying on to annoy Peppino. Later on he would also create a film on his own run of the Pizza Tower, possibly to steal Peppino’s credit for defeating Pizzahead.

Appearance[]

To highlight his childlike nature, The Noise is of a small stature with a gaping mouth, a singular tooth, and a circling fake mustache. For clothing, he wears a yellow "onesie" and a pale brown cape, as well as what seems to be a yellow chef's hat. Said onesie and hat turn white when he becomes Super Noise in the Pizzahead boss fight. Under his hat it's revealed he has black hair slicked upwards and in one of the sketches, he wears a business suit.

Biography[]

After Peppino gives Mr. Stick $200, The Noise's boss gate appears, leading to his studio room where the battle is being filmed. When entering it, Noise wears a mask of an Mad Peppino, scaring the real Peppino before he then discards it and laughs to himself. The Noise proceeds to attack Peppino, and the only way to hurt him is to wait for him to taunt Peppino, leaving him vulnerable for a short while.

Once the Noise's first health bar is depleted, Peppino and him fight until a Noise balloon nearly crashes on them, scaring the two. The fight continues, with The Noise becoming faster. If most of The Noise's health bar is depleted, he and Peppino will enter a fight once again, until The Noise receives a gatling gun, only for Noisette to come in and drag the Noise away, thus ending the fight. It's heavily implied that Noisette herself knocks out the Noise, as after he's dragged away screaming, his final health point falls off as she drags him backstage.

Later on, the Noise can be seen in the Slums smoking. He cannot be interacted with, only flashing a mean grin at the player when they approach him. He can also be found in a secret room in the Staff Only area, riding a washing machine. Along with the other bosses, the Noise is summoned by Pizzahead for a final boss rush to stop Peppino, using the same attacks as usual, though they are less powerful and he has more health. However, Peppino, enraged by all the torment he's been through, pummels through the Noise like all the other bosses before finally beating down Pizzahead and destroying the last Pillar John.

Along with the other bosses and major characters, the Noise escapes the crumbling Pizza Tower with Peppino, with the chef making a truce with his foes by offering them free pizza at his pizzeria. Afterwards, the Noise is shown relaxing, having made a fortune from his sales of movies and merchandise.

Sometime later, the Noise decides to hire the rest of the tower’s bosses to film a movie, stealing Peppino’s credit for defeating Pizzahead. Aside from small changes to the events, such as the Noise being replaced by a doppelgänger called the Doise, the Noise embarks on a nearly identical journey to Peppino’s and during the confrontation against Pizzahead, unlocks a Super Noise form which allows him to rush the bosses down and blow up Pizzahead with a huge bomb to defeat him. Furthermore, after escaping the collapsing tower, the newly revived Pillar John appears wearing a Noise costume instead of his usual outfit and all the enemies that usually appear during the credits scene are replaced with Noises. Finally, with filming done the Noise pays the bosses and goes off with Noisette to rest.

Trivia[]

  • The Noise is based on The Noid, an advertising character for Domino's Pizza in the 1980s, in both name, demeanor, and attacks (with the Noise using various vehicles against Peppino).
    • It's also worth mentioning that he dresses as the character at the costume party during the end credits.
  • Prior to the Noise Update, the Noise was only playable in demos of Pizza Tower.
  • While not fighting, the Noise seems to be on relatively good terms with Peppino, as one of the sketches depicts them eating lunch together.
  • It's stated that the Noise dislikes pizza, with his favorite food being candy.
    • Despite this, in the Noise Update one can see a pizza store owned by him replacing Peppino's store in the background of the Pizzahead fight, though this was likely just a prop for him to steal Peppino's motives in his movie.
  • When fighting the Noise, the game’s window renames itself to “Fighting an Idiot in the Pizza Tower”.
  • Despite having the same amount of screentime, the Noise is arguably the most important boss character in the game aside from Pizzahead, being the rival of Peppino and knowing him the longest out of the other bosses, and being a playable character.
  • According to the developer of Pizza Tower, the Noise is Mexican, befitting as he does end up advertising for a taco store in the webcomic.
  • The Noise is the only boss in Pizza Tower to not have a set attack pattern; his attack sequences are completely randomized.
  • The Pizza Tower webcomics reveal certain information about The Noise such as:
    • He has two henchmen, Kentucky Kenny and a apathetic Pizzard named Dougie Jones.
    • The Noise is capable of acting serious if he wishes and finds being goofy all the time tiring, mostly being silly just for the camera.
      • Further evidence for the Noise's goofiness simply being a persona is one of his idle animations, in which he solemnly smokes a cigarette before returning to his usual self.
  • While playing as the Noise, one can skip the chase scene in the Fake Peppino fight as when he gets close enough, the Noise will let out a demonic roar which scares him away.
    • This is likely due to the Noise getting angry at Fake Peppino for not following the movie's script.
