The Nothing is the main antagonist of Epic Games’ Fortnite franchise.
It is a malevolent and enigmatic void-like entity originating from beyond the omniverse. As the primordial force of pure nothingness, it predates the creation of the Zero Point and the birth of the omniverse itself, making it the first known entity in existence. The Nothing serves as the ruler of The Army of The Last Reality, a destructive force committed to consuming all realities. Its ultimate goal is to reduce existence to absolute nothingness, leaving only himself. First introduced in Season X, The Nothing stands as the entity behind The Last Reality's campaigns, the obliteration of creation.
As the most dangerous threat of the omniverse and the Leader of The Army of the Last Reality, The Nothing is directly and indirectly responsible for most of the story of Fortnite: Battle Royale, Fortnite: Save The World and LEGO Fortnite: Odyssey. This includes the various attacks of The Last Reality as well as the war between The Seven and the Imagined Order, as Geno motives to create the Imagined Order and abuse of the Zero Point was to perfect every reality of the omniverse in order to protect them from The Nothing, this was all part of Phase 1 of their plan, and now they have entered Phase 2.

Personality[]
The Nothing appears to be an entirely malevolent entity with a strong desire to annihilate the entire omniverse. They possesses a complete disregard for the individuals who serve as their "servants", as they are destined to be eradicated once their objective is accomplished. The Nothing exhibits the ability to manipulate and influence anyone who can be of use to their cause, displaying an exceptional level of charisma and manipulative skills. They have successfully gained control over a massive army, persuading them to align with their destructive mission.
Biography[]
The First Big Bang[]
According to The Foundation, the initial state of existence was characterized by absolute emptiness known as The Nothing. However, in a remarkable event described as a surge of pure creation, the Zero Point emerged, giving rise to infinite worlds known as Realities. The fate of The Nothing during this transformative occurrence remains shrouded in mystery, yet its presence endured and it embarked on a relentless mission to eradicate the omniverse entirely. Its ultimate objective is to establish a solitary "world" where only its essence prevails, reminiscent of the preexistence era before the inception of the Zero Point.
Unknown Time Period[]
The origins of the Army of the Last Reality remain shrouded in mystery, as its formation occurred under obscure circumstances. This enigmatic force embarks on a relentless campaign, launching invasions and obliterating every known reality in its path, driven by a singular objective of reverting everything back to a state of absolute Nothingness.
Season X[]
In a confidential message following The End occurrence, the Scientist alludes to the presence of The Nothing, affirming that it has now become 'inevitable'.
Chapter 2: Season 7[]
In light of Glyph Master Raz's recent activities, both The Nothing and The Last Reality have gained knowledge about the whereabouts of Reality Zero and have designated it as their main objective. Their ultimate goal is to seize control of the Zero Point.
Chapter 3: Season 3[]
Following the unsuccessful attempts of the Aliens and the Cube Legion to annihilate the residents of Reality Zero and seize control of the Zero Point, as well as their inability to effectively utilize their military might without threaten the integrity of the Zero Point, The Nothing made the strategic decision to dispatch their Herald. This chosen emissary was tasked with infiltrating the Island and orchestrating its destruction from within, thereby revealing the coveted Zero Point without endangering its structural integrity.
Chapter 3: Season 4[]
The invasion of Reality Zero by The Herald of The Nothing begins with the spreading of Chrome, a unique living metal that devours everything in its path. In the midst of this chaotic situation, The Nothing takes a particular interest in a human named Bytes and establishes contact with him through a chrome television. Through manipulation and persuasion, The Nothing convinces Bytes to embark on a journey, urging him to delve deeper into the abyss of darkness. Along this treacherous path, Bytes gradually loses his sense of self, as The Nothing rewards him with enhanced abilities, transforming him into a formidable "warrior" for The Last Reality. Eventually, The Herald successfully obliterates Reality Zero, revealing the existence of the Zero Point. However the Paradigm and the remaining survivors now floating among the debris of fractured realities restored The Zero Point's power at least temporarily, enough fot it to gather pieces of the fractured realities and some others, to forge a new Reality.
Chapter 4: Season 1[]
Rift Warden Stellan, the esteemed head alchemist of the mighty Oathbound Empire, has been bestowed with an extraordinary mission by none other than The Ageless Champion himself. This unparalleled task involves the creation of a Rift Gate, a remarkable contraption that serves as a bridge between realities. AMIE tasked The Looper (who was already helping Stellan to create the Rift Gate) to help her as she wanted to use the Rift Gate to travel worlds in order to find The Scientist. During a test phase of a rift created from Stellan's research and design by AMIE, her test subjects (which were limited AI version of herself) sent through test rifts encountered an entity they qualified as "It" sculpting the existence of The Scientist and the others chromed characters into something new. Upon their return, the test subjects were forever altered, both physically and mentally, with one being corrupted and taking the shape of a Cube Monster while they also all became completely mad and hysterical despite the short time they were there, saying that the fate suffered by those trapped is far worse than death.
Chapter 4: Season 3[]
Optimus Prime, upon the discovery of an underground rainforest and its incredibly ancient ruins located at the heart of the Island, felt compelled to issue a grave warning to the inhabitants. The essence that sustained Reality Zero, had faded, leaving it on the precipice of its inevitable demise. Simultaneously, Optimus Prime also cautions against the impending arrival of formidable adversaries who have become aware of this impending catastrophe, The Last Reality and The Nothing being believed to be among them. The Zero Point is also revealed as petrified, near the ruins of Apparatus. Doctor Slone developed a plan, with the help of Optimus and the clues left by The Ancients, to leave the Island and escape our enemies for good. A plan requiring a time travel into the past, in order to trigger a new Big Bang in order to create plenty of realities which would allow the inhabitants to escape and find refuge.
Chapter 4: Season OG[]
Traveling to the past on Slone's orders, Jones lands in the past of an Alternate Timeline of Reality Zero, already negatively impacted by Kado Thorne's time travels. In other words he lands in the past of a reality very similar to Reality Zero but where there were drastic changes. He nevertheless managed to cause an event similar to The End which put an end to this Reality and generated a second Big Bang which created lots of new Multiverses (known as Galaxies in Fortnite) each containing lots of new realities. This change carried over into the future, allowing the inhabitants of Asteria to flee the island.
Chapter 5: Season 1[]
The inhabitants of Asteria have joined a new unnamed reality whose main Island is named Helios. At an unspecified point in time after this, Asteria was annihilated and The Zero Point was shattered.

Carlos mentions The Nothing in a dialog line; "It's the Nothing. At least that's what I took to calling it when I was... on the other side"
Power and Abilities[]
- Chrome Manipulation: They possesses complete dominion over all aspects within Chrome. The Nothing gave to The Herald and Bytes the ability to use Chrome.
- Existence Sculpting: They can rewrite the existence of something, or someone Chromed into a new.
- Mental Manipulation: They can dominate the minds of others, forcing them into servitude or despair, turning them into agents of its will.
- Cosmic Awareness: They possesses knowledge of the Omniverse and its working. They are able to perceive things, even the emotional state of a person although physically absent.
- Reality Corruption: They can twist the laws of physics, space, and time, destabilizing or "infecting" entire zones with chaos and entropy.
- Immortality (Conceptual): As a fundamental force rather than a physical being, they cannot be destroyed in conventional terms.
- Influence Over Heralds: They command agents like The Herald to spread its corruption and further its goals.
Trivia[]
- While The Nothing served as the primary/Overarching antagonist of Fortnite, its role became much more limited after the Chapter 4 of Fortnite: Battle Royale :
- Pandora's Box took on the role for the entirety of Chapter 5 before its essence was sent to another reality.
- The Dark Presence then took on the role for the entirety of Chapter 6 and onward. It is also the Overarching antagonist of LEGO Fortnite: Expedition and one of the main antagonists of LEGO Fortnite: Odyssey, despite this, it's confirmed in the opening of the Chapter 7 Cinematic Trailer, that The Dark Presence serves The Last Reality, so this could imply that The Nothing has even planned this.
- The Nothing, is undoubtedly one of the most enigmatic and perplexing characters in the game. Its physical attributes, origins, and true motivations remain shrouded in complete obscurity.
- The Nothing refers to themselves by the pronoun "we".
- The Nothing possesses a male-like voice, although it remains uncertain whether they are genuinely male or not.
- The Nothing communicates using an extremely exaggerated style, often slurring and elongating each word they utter.
- The tone and speaking rhythm of the individual undergoes continuous fluctuations.
- Although it is not confirmed, it is implied that the Chrome, The Storm and the Darkness itself are only manifestations or extensions of The Nothing
