In the print-and-web comic series Girl Genius by Phil & Kaja Foglio, the Other (sometimes rendered as the "Other") is the title of the main and overarching antagonist.
Twenty years before the events of the comic, a then-unknown person began wiping out the major Spark houses of Europa in a series of attacks. As their identity was unknown, the attacker was simply called "the Other."
During the events of the comic, multiple characters have been accused of being the Other by different characters:
- Anevka Sturmvoraus (not strictly the Other, but one who tried and failed to assume their role).
- Baron Klaus Wulfenbach (falsely accused of being the Other).
- Lucrezia Mongfish (the "true" identity of the Other, in some form, even if the precise details of Lucrezia's status and history are disputed).
- Zola Malfeazium (not strictly the Other, but one who has attempted with some success to assume their role).
