The Pederson Project are the main antagonists of the 2023 film, Saw X, the tenth installment of the Saw franchise.
It is an elaborate scam that cons innocent, vulnerable people out of their money by pretending to cure them of their life threatening conditions, such as cancer.
History[]
The Pederson Project was created to be a program for con artists who supposedly perform an experimental surgery for their dying patients to cure them, when in reality, they are healthcare scammers who take at least 34 patients' money without them being cured from mortal illnesses, causing them to die.
The director Cecilia Pederson also seemed to use her father's grateful reputation to concoct a scheme and explained his development research on new healthcare.
John Kramer hears about the Pederson Project, and seeks them out for treatment. He travels to Mexico at a hacienda where the project is based. There, he is given surgery and is announced to be cancer-free afterwards. However, John discovers the entire project was a scam when he returns to the hacienda to thank the project, and finds the place abandoned, as well as home footage of a brain surgery which John assumed was a live footage of his surgery. Furious, John and Amanda personally abduct the members of the project; Valentina, Mateo, Gabriela and Cecila, and subjects them to their games; telling them that this is not retribution, but a reawakening.
Valentina and Mateo fail their games while Gabriela passes, but then Cecilia is freed from her bonds by her boyfriend Parker Sears who arrived at the warehouse where the games take place. Cecilia kills Gabriela to spite John and Amanda, and then forces John and a young Carlos who arrived at the warehouse to play her game; being waterboarded with blood while she and Parker leave with the money. However, the office shuts with them inside and the room floods with deadly chlorine gas. A single hole opens for ventilation which only one person can stick their head from. A pre-recorded tape tells Cecilia and Parker to fight for the hole. Cecilia kills Parker and sticks her head through the hole, watching as John, Amanda and Carlos free themselves and leave the warehouse, taking with them the money Cecilia has taken from her scam victims.
