The Phantom of Retroland is a minor antagonist of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and the main antagonist of the episode "The Phantom of Retroland".

He is an enigmatic horror ghost that is said to prowl Retroland at night in search of victims to devour. Nick tells the story of him during show-and-tell.

Biography

After an all-night swim competition in July 1997, three children decided to skip Retroland and jump the barrier. Though they were too intelligent to buy into the ghost of Retroland, they may have heard the rumors. Nevertheless, the ghost attacked and devoured them before they could escape. They were never seen again, none of them.

Jimmy made the decision to slip away to disprove the hoax. Most of the children, including Cindy, Nick, Jimmy's parents, and even himself, attempted to pass for the Phantom, but Jimmy or Goddard (except from Jimmy's parents) were able to catch them all. Jimmy's parents were terrified off when the genuine Phantom made an appearance at the end of the episode.

Appearance

He had a fanged skeleton face, a salami for a right leg, and a long black robe on, according to Nick.

• These are the reasons why everyone dressed up as the phantom:
  • Nick: To scare Jimmy, Sheen, and Carl.
  • Cindy and Libby: To get back at Jimmy for ruining Nick's class report
  • Judy: To teach Jimmy a lesson for sneaking out after bedtime.
• The first Phantom appears to be hovering above the ground as he pursues Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen. Later, when the three boys first activate the pendulum ride, he hovers in front of it. After all, we find out that this Phantom was actually Nick in disguise. In that case, how was he able to float and hover above the surface of the earth?
• When the third Phantom is exposed to the children, his body begins to glow as well as his shining face. After this "Phantom" unmasks to reveal Judy, the shining effect disappears, and it is never shown or explained how Judy accomplished the glowing.
• Frank Welker, who voices Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget, Soundwave from Transformers, Rajah, Abu, and the Cave of Wonders from Disney's Aladdin, as well as Darkseid from Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, is the same voice he uses for the real Phantom at the end of the episode.
